In reply to Post #77 The bait snobs and Ali haters have already won by reading your reply, that's not a pop just a observation.
but the scary thing is that I watched his release video and for a minute, just a brief minute my head was saying that the pop-ups looked decent and may be worth a try.
The bait looked quite good imo, nice and soft. I doubt very much Ali will have put together a crap bait. The pop ups, someone will want to class them as over flavoured balls of dough/sawdust, but those types of pop ups have been catching, and will continue catching for ever, it's as simple as that, who ever tries to imply differently is argueing with history that's undeniable, not my opinion. Your fishing for a Carp!*
How many poor souls are going to walk into AD and make that mistake.
As above, nothing wrong with their decision just others opinions about it being a inferior product.
If i took my son into AD and told him to pick out a bait, he'd probably go for the "Kettle Chip" wannabe bags because they look kind of flashy i would expect.
Good, nothing wrong with a good bit of marketing, and by being unbiased he may actually have a great result
* I have no beef with using a well made food pop up for tricky venues but in general they're not required imo, those sorts of venues are in the minority not majroity. I'm not saying you won't do better on them where ever you use them either for the record.

I don't really know what camp i fit into between General Noddy or Well Informed Forum Go-er, maybe somewhere in the middle but the scary thing is that I watched his release video and for a minute, just a brief minute my head was saying that the pop-ups looked decent and may be worth a try.
Absolutely no idea why, but thats me being truthful.

The OMC bait screws aren't bad though to be fair

In reply to Post #68 Sour grapes? I'm quite content in my current role to be honest.
Never understood the whole "you're just jealous" thing.
I love gaming, I enjoyed using my xbox on a regular basis, however would I want to film myself playing on it, or stood in 'Game' on a saturday earning minimum wage selling games for the xbox?
Would I want to be an LG/Samsung/LoveHoney salesman too because I enjoy using their stuff too?
Na, you're alright.

In reply to Post #68 "I'm sure he won't be losing any sleep over the opinions of a few on a forum"
That's good to hear. He won't mind me calling him a c*ck then.
"He donates a lot to many good causes"
Good on him, I hope he continues. He's not alone though.
"Sounds like sour grapes a lot of this."
How so?
"on a forum that's seen better days"
We'll keep soldiering on.

Trouble for me is that he has just sprayed and preyed with regards products. All the decent brands started small with a collection of tackle they had heritage in and then expanded once the brand had a good name. Ali seems to believe that his Korda days got him star status and he could flood the market with a name tagged to 90% crap. I assume it’s because his backers wanted a return and to see huge growth.
I think his pva system is good, but if god forbid I won a £509 voucher I think I’d be too to toe in some camo tweed ensemble sat on a park bench making a smoothie with a cordless whizzer

In reply to Post #68 Respect for Ali doing this BUT its all tax deductible and I'm sure many others do this they just don't shout about it.

In reply to Post #68 Full marks for donating to charity. The guy is still a generous t@@@er.

I could say quite a bit about his videos...but I wont....suffice to say I don't own and will never use a single piece of OMC gear, I would rather go without.
Hamidi will always have his sheep but his flock will get smaller. He's great at marketing I will give him that but Jesus it's getting boring and desperate.

In reply to Post #68 I'm sure that nobody is actually trying to make him lose any sleep Lol. And no sour grapes either. We are just calling out desperately over hyped bait bull ***** ! As for the forum having seen better days, you're still posting on it !

In reply to Post #62 I saw a post about the pellets with a picture of the ingredients - was halibut & course pellets, and the added curing ingredient were literally just "tiger nut juice and sucrose"
I was personally shocked he has gone down the bait route, after the amount of years he stayed with mainline and his beloved goo, I can understand why there are mummering's in the industry that he overstepped his mark now.

I'm sure he won't be losing any sleep over the opinions of a few on a forum that's seen better days. You also forget what this guy does with children's charities. He donates a lot to many good causes. Sounds like sour grapes a lot of this.

In reply to Post #61 I’m afraid that the magic twig fiasco has caused a lot of damage to his personal brand. Personally, I’m fairly chilled about such things which in reality are trivial. nonetheless, the damage has been done. He was always quite a divisive character, even prior to that, but at least he was a character and still is!
He deserves a level of respect in all honesty for bringing out such a comprehensive range of fishing tackle within such a short period. The fishing tackle market is absolutely on its knees at the moment. If you look at companies house accounts, even the biggest of the big players are reeling from the effects of the post-Covid world that we are in. Fishing suddenly became madly popular, manufacturers over ordered, and by the time the stock arrived from China, the bubble had already burst.
I don’t use any of his products in all honesty, but I’m not daft enough to hold a personal opinion from letting me use good tackle and I suspect a lot of what he sells is actually pretty good stuff. I certainly won’t be using his bait, however, or that bloody twig!
