That's reassuring! Tested my 12lb (new) technium with peddle boat on a park lake last week - performed well and landed the apologetic family without any issues.

ive spoke to shimano over the spools i bought from bobco.

"Hi Andy,

Sorry for the slow reply, but from looking at the images and checking our records this is not the newly released line.

We didn't sell any of the UK spec line to Bobco before they ceased trading."

The newer line is however in stock and able to be ordered from any UK shimano stockist.

I notice there's been another invention to get rid of line twist.

I spooled my technium and then walked out the rods 100m (ish) and wound back to remove twist. However I don't really think it needed it, very little twist in it from initial spooling.

I have some Fluoro to stretch out once that's loaded onto new spools, so will do the Technium at the same time...

I'll take some scales and gently pull on the WHOLE length of line until I get 15lb on the dial and then gently ease back off. If I can get a 15lb pull on it that'll do for me.

Then wind it all in through the grass in the field to comb out any twist.

As much as the close season is frustrating...it does give us a chance to get things done properly, ready for the off in June

Personally if I thought there was a chance it could be bad I wouldn't have sold it on.
I wouldn't want fish trailing line. Or endangering others if it cracked off.

i sold mine, did not want the slight nagging thought the line was duff. Still have two spools of the OG 15lb though, so not gonna cry tbh

That's good news.
I will respool some of my reels before the season reopens and do a similar test.
If anything fails I will try and see what eBay say about refund

It looks like (Two) BobCo bought a bunch of rejects and flogged it off cheap.

Just spooled back up with technium 12lb (definitely the new stuff as my local got it in on re-release) - so much nicer than the synchro it replaced and went on the spools beautifully.

Soaked for 24 hours before loading and did a break test prior to spooling each of the three spools (so sampled fairly evenly across the bulk spool) and seems rock solid.

We don't know if the bobco tackle stuff is genuine, but took a risk at £5 a spool.

I've used technium for years anyway so will be able to tell if its genuine when i spool up.
