In reply to Post #7 I use both, to be honest, I feel little difference between the two reels; both have good drag, are very smooth, and the spools are interchangeable between the reels.

In reply to Post #6 I have some Penn Tidal XTs and they are superb and like for like less half of the price of the Aero’s

In reply to Post #1 I have had a set of three power Aeros that I have used for the last 6 years
Very pleased with them with no issues
Last year I wanted a set of reels to go on my 3 1/4 rods and was going to get another set of Aeros but was told to look at the okuma obsidian
I was impressed with the reel and the price and bought a set
I’m not sure how okuma have done this but the reels are almost identical
I can and have swapped the spools from the Aeros to the obsidians and vice versa
I have used the obsidian more than the Aeros this year due to the lake I’m on and they are so far excellent
I have been a shimmy fan for over 40 years and I’m staggered at how okuma have done this

In reply to Post #2 Need a new Big Pit myself.
Narrowed it down to the two Shimano offerings (currently using Ci4 14000 which I love, but they no longer make) .
So it's either the SHIMANO ULTEGRA XR 14000 XTD or pay the extra £100 for the POWER AERO 14000 XTC.
The weight difference is minimal.
Is the extra Ton worth it.

In reply to Post #1 i had the mgs xtd and really didn't get on with them with the stupidly slow oscillation, so bought the power aeros and all i can say is buy with confidence brilliant reels
