In reply to Post #17 My only memories of Kingsbury are early ones when I used to live that way towards Solihull. One of the first places I fished with my dad who'd swing tip for Bream, and I remember he got stung around the eye by a wasp. Then my recently passed uncle used to fish it for Bream and never catch anything!
I've been trying to build up to waters like that. Cuttle Mill will probably be a better bet. We fished the lake round the back with the Jnr Club (Starlets) and I always remember being impressed with how nice the first main lake looked.
Probably my best water at the moment is Cofton Lake, but the fish are more or less stockies (I believe from Furnace Mill someone told me) and I'm yet to have a 20 from there, though there's meant to be some in there and a couple of 30s. I've spent more time Roach fishing it.
I'm trying to build up experience on places like that before I fish harder waters, though my club estate lake in Bridgnorth is one of the first challenges I look forward to.

Been a long time since I heard anyhting about Kingsbury but it was a very well fished water back in the 0's, the sort of place that might be 'difficult' for a newer Carp angler. I'm not trying to put you off, things may have changed, just making you aware. Back in the day when I used to visit Simon at Quality Baits he had a door and wall plastered with fish from KWP, some really nice fish.
If you're thinking that far might be worth having a look at Cuttle Mill, well fished for again but a bit under the radr at the mo, still producing nice fish to my knowledge. I believe the bailiff on there recently retired...if my memory serves me right.

In reply to Post #14 Yeah the big Crucians are hopefully still there.
I was catching about 12 a year a few years ago (from 50 sessions) but all a good size. Then a couple of years ago I had 10 in 10 sessions in September, all between 2 and 3lb. But then last year I didn't have a single one and not many came out to anyone.
People have been worried they've passed their peak, died or been predated on, but I reckon they've just gone a bit cute.
I love a park lake but Stack Pool is a bit kinder than some areas of Brum!

In reply to Post #1 Why don't you look at park lakes . Sandwell valley etc ... a bit rough around the edges but cheap and decent carp with history .
Also look at Kingsbury water park .. short trip down the motorway ..Ÿ˜ŽŸ‘
Are the big crucians still in stack ??

Cheers all.
I think it's Arrow Meadow the syndicate I've heard of and considered as a long term option.

You also have a pond in Batchley it used to have carp in it and I would say it's free fishing also

Arrow Valley Lake
At nearly 30 acres in size, Arrow Valley is an attractive water in Redditch offering mixed fishing for carp to 30lbs and silver fish

In reply to Post #8 A good call but I don't know as never fished there. I'm surprised my Jnr Club never fished there as I've seen that Mark Downes has fished there for silvers, didn't know it had Carp.

In reply to Post #6 Cheers for reply mate.
I've had a look at the 'syndicate' lakes at Shatterford. I think they're nicer than the day ticket lakes. Have fished the day ticket lakes but caught a load of small Carp on a feeder from the top lake. The syndicate lakes being at the bottom look a nicer prospect to me, as at the bottom of the hill and some nice views around there.
Seems a few places do Carp AND Cats though, and I don't particularly fancy catching Catfish for some reason.
I'm going to put my name down for another syndicate with a waiting list in the Bromsgrove area - maybe for the Silvers ticket first.
Then I'm in a club with an estate lake in the Bridgnorth area, unknown stock of Carp, and I ain't seen anything while silvers fishing it, but for some reason, I quite fancy the challenge as I think there's some in there.

It's slim pickings for proper carp fisheries in the kiddie area, I live in stourbridge and havent fished a day ticket for ages in the area. Cuttle mill is a good shout for a chance at a PB. Bells mill is a nice little puddle but not my style of carp fishing, 8 pegs in 1.5 acres of water. Shatterford has the day ticket lake but again not my thing. If your willing to drive Norton Disney is probably my favourite day ticket complex but its around 2 hours away

Butt Grips fit perfect mate thank you.
I have a few places in mind but some are expensive like Angel Lakes. I'd have to encourage my mates to go and book the lake.

I'm just getting into Carp fishing.
I have a very humble PB of 24lb 4oz, which is 'Cut Tail' from Stack Pool I've caught 5 times.
Also had the Big Common at 21lb 10oz. The Koi Common at 19lb 2oz (Summer weight) and 21lb (Winter weight). And Apple 6 times which is always upper double about 19lb.
My dad's had the biggest from Stone Pool at 26lb 2oz.
These are very amateur PBs I know, but the biggest fish in the lake, and only Cut Tail has fell once to Carp tactics (first time I used boilies on the lake), and the Koi Common first time I had it was on boilies too, everything else has been to coarse tactics like a method feeder rod or bomb and bread in winter.
As they're the biggest in the lake, and I've caught every Carp I want from Stack Pool, I'm looking to progress more into Carp fishing.
I'm a member of a couple of clubs that have varying club lakes, but looking for somewhere to beat my PB in and around the Kiddie area.
I know of some places locally like Bells Mill I wish to fish, but is there anywhere else I stand a realistic chance of beating that.
Thanks!
