Yes mate, myself i think 20 carps for this size of water is more than enough for them to have a good growing potential.

I would just want to have some other opinion on that 😉

It will be exciting to see them growing in the futur years !

I wouldn't go rushing in and stocking any new fish.
Test fish it and get an idea of stock, size and condition. Do some bank work and find suitable spots, keep some feed going in and the fishing (stock assessment) will work better.

Hi All,

My best friend will be soon a happy owner of a small 2 acres pond, he doesn't fish for carp, he is only interested by pike, perch and zander.

He said i let you manage the carp stocking , so i would want your advice.

The water is an old gravel pit ( there are a lot of them in this place) , clear water, a lot ( and it's an understatement….) of crayfish, zebra mussels so i think the water is good quality.

The previous owner said to us that he have introduced some pike, zander,12kg of tench, 110 kg of roach, and 103kg of carps between 2,5kg and 5 kg !

All that by a fish farmer, he give us the bill and also some photos of the fish the day the were put in this water, they were introduced in january last year (2025).

He said to us that he never see or caught a fish before that except an awfull amount of Sun perch ( lepomis gibossus), so i think the initial stock was really low.

Do you think it's enough for the carp ( he said to me there was approx 20 miror and common and 10 grass carp, when they introduced them)?

Thank's
Regards
