Funny enough I didn't read this before we went but your comments were bang on. We ended up on the narrower end (bit you first come to) and had quite a few bites under the willows on solid bags. Did 36h and had 5 out between us. Baliff was super helpful in the shop and said similar things to you. From memory most people were fishing the middle of the lake over loads of bait, he just don't do that, keep it tight and light bait in the margins. Worked a treat.
It's interesting hearing the comments on business etc. as it was definitely rammed. We went midweek and I'd say it was still 90% capacity. I'd go back mainly because it's bang in the middle of me and my mate and I want to have a go on one of the proper waters there. No rats seen!

Tansor can't be that rough nowadays surely?
Used to fish bluebell before Tony bought it, and for about a year after he did but was well gone before the Benson days. Was a cracking set of lakes with some truly wonderful fish in that you really had to work for. Didn't they split Swan in two?

I'm fairly sure I saw a Frank Warwick YT video on there, where some guy had done about 6 months continuous on there,without a bite! Frank rocked up and had a couple over 48hrs! Painful.

I knew someone who fished it back in the Benson days. He referred to it as 'combat fishing'. Not for me.

I had a meeting set up fairly locally so thought I would give one of the lakes a go for a night midweek. The whole complex was packed. The only swim left was a corner of Bluebell with a bathtub of water to go at.
Bait boats everywhere on a lake where it's impossible to fish further than 50 yards out, floodlights set up in swims and left on all night, rat infested and one guy even had a TV aerial set up poking out of his Bivvy.
Couldn't get out of there quick enough in the morning and won't be going back.

Carp fishing has moved on. i have fished it a handful of times over the years.
Beautiful lakes and surroundings, well stocked tackle shop, toilet block and on site food. Maybe a bit commercial for some but accept it like it is, its popular for a reason, once your in a swim, just crack on 
As for cost, probably the same as most other waters that offer the chance of a 50 plus fish?

I haven't fished it for years, probably 15 at least. It wasn't anywhere near as busy then but you could always guarantee that some plonker would set up bang next to you despite most of the lake being free!
The rats back in the day were horrendous, used to chew the lids of your buckets and scurry over your bivvy all night!
Lovely complex mind!

I used to fish it once a year, every year. It used to be a great complex and if you kept your wits about you, you could nearly always navigate the campers and get on fish on any of the lakes. That changed around covid times. Just far, far too busy nowadays. Shame as it's a pretty place to fish. Somewhat marred by the hoard of bivvies everywhere.
In terms of any experiences to share..... north end of bluebell lake is shallower so a good bet. Try to get at least one rod under the willows that surround the lake. I'd avoid the deeper section in the southern/central section at this time of year (unless fishing the margin) but there's a lovely shelf at the very southern end that does loads of bites. You'll do well just to get a swim in any of the decent areas tbf.

It may have some great stock/s.
But that's some expensive camping on pressured waters. Not my thing personally.

Fish it often. I went last week Thursday and couldnt get a swim on Kingy, Mallard or Sandmartin. Unless you go early week good luck finding decent swims

A mate and I are doing 36 on Bluebell Lake at the Bluebell complex next week. Has anyone fished there before and got any experience that they can share?
