In reply to Post #12 The angle wasn't as steep as first thought and it did go up 12 feet but probably more like 10foot with a slight shelf half way up which is where I fished.
It was a drop Black and then a toner and it think it's probably one of only a few fish caught from there at least in the last few years.
S2 pop up on a mega stiff inline lead

In reply to Post #17 Cheers it's worked flat gripper stiff hook link... mega slack line
Happy days thanks for the tips

In reply to Post #15 This makes the most sense. Lead at the top of the slope, chod rig on a slack line

In reply to Post #14 I want to say it was a tim paisley book, he rolled out base mix and made flat square baits for this exact thing.
I'd probably try balls of soft groundbait, the fine match stuff will stick on a shelf.

My rig would be a helicopter/chod flat/gripper lead with bottom bait, totally slack line. Piece of foam on the hook to keep the hook above the gravel in case the lead slides at 1st.
You could fish the bait anywhere on the line thus anywhere on the slope, ala chod.
Edit, could even put the lead on the flat at the top of the slope, fluoro would help sink everything but you could back weight along the line if needed, as long as the hoolink can move freely if needed, ie, move toward the lead.

Sounds like it will only be singles as round bait will roll back down the slope into the gutter.
Not sure how you will keep the bait in front of the line as a round bait will roll back down the slope.
Can imagine a nightmare for tangles if fishing on the deck.

In reply to Post #12 I'm not sure how to post images anymore buts it a steep incline then it shallows into a "step" and then steep again.
It's glowing white on echo so obviously very hard in an otherwise weedy lake.
I know the fish patrol it I've had them on zigs alongside it but at present the water is unusually cloudy so zigs aren't working .
Thanks for the comments

I'm sad enough to have wanted to know what angle (°) 25ft up to 12ft over a distance of 6ft is.
65.22°!!!!!!!
Think about that.
I really don't see any sort of lead gripping on that, other than possibly a proper long tailed wire gripper lead used in strong tide runs when sea fishing.
How could you confidently sit behind a rig that you're not sure where it is on that slope (most likely at the bottom of it)?

In reply to Post #8 Try to keep some tension on the line. I fished in similar but much less extreme circumstances in the early 90's, every bite I got was a drop back as a fish lifted the lead and it dropped back down the slope. I used to cast a flat lead to the mark and gently ease a back lead into the deep channel to try to prevent liners, then very gently tighten up so the bobbin would show a drop back. As I said the slope I was fishing onto was less extreme, so may not be viable on your water.

I would agree washing line is a great option if possible.

In reply to Post #8 Can you position yourself to fish down the slope?

In reply to Post #7 And a completely slack line

In reply to Post #6 Thanks I'm fishing up the slope... I'm on Friday I'm going to try a inline lead and stiff hook length

In reply to Post #5 It is gravel so it may well hold on that, if lucky.

In reply to Post #1 If you can get a lead to hold on that gradient, I'd say that it's snagged on something.

Is there a far margin you can use for a washing line, or can you use a boat?

In reply to Post #1 Are you fishing down the slope, ie, slope going away from you, if so tight line and flat lead. If fishing to the slope, ie, slope coming toward you, very difficult as any line tension will move the lead, in that scenario heavier flat lead and slack line might work.
Only one way to find out 😃
Edit, just seen the upward bit in the title...doh

Can anyone help with a rig for this?
Slope goes from 25ft to 12ft over maybe 6 foot.
Is this even possible?
