As bait man says most are just too soft IMO.
I have a torrix spod rod and use that for all my markering and spot finding work, as well as spodding.
I have a cheap Fox marker rod, which i take and only use if i want to have a float on the spot when spodding to be super accurate (these days that's extremely rare)

Most marker rods are just a 3lb or 3.25 rebadged rod from the companies range.
Often they are too soft or floppy to cast out a 3 or 4oz lead and a big marker floats, and not stiff enough to give reasonable feedback.
These rods were ok for up to 50-60yds but if you want to fish 100yds then you need a better tool for the job.
Most guys will use a medium spod rod as it has enough beef for the cast and isnt too floppy.

My Shimano Tribal marker rod is much too soft and the handle is too long. Looking to get a new one that’s lightweight / easy going. Rarely fish beyond 60 yards. Any ideas?
