I use the tip but always hold the braid as I agree you get so much more feedback than relying on the tip

I've always preferred 2 spod rods. Once markering is done you can have 2 spod rods set up clipped to different spots.

If you really want to feel what's down on the lake bed stop using the rod tip. Point the rod straight at the lead/float and full the braid through the rod rings with your fingers. Try it, the difference is massive.
This means you can use any rod that can get the lead/float out there.

Is it the 5.5lb one? That’ll do!

I used to have marker rods but found the spod rods better, the extra stiffness helps get a better feel

What's your budget? High end, look at Harrisons torrix or aviators, I have torrix spod and markers in 12fts and aviator spod and markers in 13fts.

Looking to buy a decent dedicated marker rod. I've used the spod rod for everything last couple of years but I want a dedicated marker. Either second hand or new, what would you recommend ?
