lol, I’ve managed to swerve actually using AI so far!

Had a quick look on AD website yesterday and they were showing as out of stock on the gravity, so dunno if you’ve missed the boat on that offer?

Thanks for responding, they look to be a newer model than the Gravity and look decent too.

I've been getting AI to do a whole bunch of comparisons and it reckons the Gravity's for the price and what I want them for (infrequent distance use) are slightly better suited than the Krafts.

It also reckons they're better suited than a whole load of others on the market at much higher prices from a number of brands. AI reckons my only regret might be 'logo' envy of premium brands 🤣🤣

Gotta love a bit of AI'ing👍

I’ve got a set of the Sonik Kraft 12ft 3.75lb, which are surprisingly forgiving when playing fish. I bought them for distance fishing with bigger leads, as my old rods weren’t cutting it lol. The tip rings are ceramic lined, but the rest are minima “style”, which I suspect will probably wear out in no time. Only had them a few months and whatever the black coating is on the rings, it’s already starting to show silver through it, particularly on the two nearest the tip rings and on the butt rings. That said, I pretty much only got them to tide me over for a bit, so at £73 each (x4), I can’t complain too much. Not sure what this trend for unlined rings is tbh?
Another thing, Sonik don’t seem to offer an abbreviated handle option, which would’ve been my preference, but I am getting used to tolerating the full shrink handles lol.
Castingwise, in the right hands, the Kraft range are very capable. I think I’ve seen a YouTube video of someone hitting 43 wraps with them, but I only got them for punching out 3.5oz leads (maximum permitted on my lake) to 20-25 wraps max, in strong cross winds on a 300 acre reservoir I fish, which they do with ease, even with my pathetic technique lol.

These are the only Sonik rods I’ve ever owned, but in summary I would say that the blanks are great, but the fittings, in particular the rings, are questionable.

I know these aren’t the same model of rod they you’re looking at, but my findings may reflect in other models within the range? I’m not even sure which order you would place Sonik’s current range in, ie cheap starter rods, mid range, or flagship models (within their own range, not in comparison to other brands etc).

Thanks both, It's the 12ft gravity in 3.25 or 3.5 I've got my eye on.

They stray close to the kaizen price range so it's how they stack up against them too. Even though I didn't get on with the Kaizen.

My local AD doesn't have stock sadly, otherwise I'd be down there giving them a wiggle

I had a set of the sk4s and of the same opinion (must've been 10 years or so ago). Very good rods for the money, mainly got rid of mine as I had cork handles which I didn't like

I used to have a set of the 12ft sk3 xtr, they were beautiful rods. Really nice blanks, and decent fittings for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to use soniks again

I've been so impressed with the xtractors since getting them, I'm considering getting some full length rods from Sonik to live in the garage for when/if I go somewhere I need to fish at distance or if a water is weedy/snaggy and need some extra grunt etc.

I'm not looking at spending fortunes on rods (those days are long gone), so I wondered are Soniks 12 and 13ft rods as good/reliable as their telescopics or not?

For context I was just about to buy 3 Daiwa 13ft crosscasts at £43 each (which seems to be a very good price) and thought I should have a poke around before I did and a couple of Soniks rods are in this price range

Cheers
