In reply to Post #31 Exactly that, some statement about out of date language is all they need to do. The p.c brigade messing with things that don't need messing with ....
In reply to Post #31 Some of the language used in programs today is a lot worse than what was used in the 70’s and 80’s
Some of the programs today are full of it
Gogglebox they all full of F And C etc
Don’t even get started on programs like naked dating or naked attraction or even Bridgestone or whatever it’s called lol
Someone at work was talking about that on Tuesday…

In reply to Post #30 Just add a "dated language" disclaimer and be done with it. None of it makes much sense - I watched Robocop the other night, edited out a "f*ck" and then 10 minutes later his limbs are being blown off in graphic detail.

In reply to Post #29 Only fools is a prime example. Far too many bits to list Tbh. I have the dvd box set, comparing those to what's on TV is really noticeable. Some I get, other bits don't make sense at all

In reply to Post #28 I know the BBC edited out the "N" word from Fawlty Towers", but not aware of anything else.

In reply to Post #27 Very highly edited though.

In reply to Post #26 They’re all on TV all the time 😂

In reply to Post #1 In no particular order:-
Bottom
Absolutely Fabulous
I'm Alan Partridge (and the one before)
Only Fools and Horses (has to be no.1 obviously)
Fawlty Towers
Men Behaving Badly
Five is tough - just behind (for me):-
One Foot in the Grave
The Office
Some Mothers'
Porridge
Black Adder (only the last two series for me)
Horses for Courses - never got Red Dwarf
None of these would ever see the light of day these days thanks to Woke.
Cant believe no mention of some mothers do av em
In reply to Post #1 The office
Porridge
Only fools and horses
The young ones
Ever decreasing circles .
In reply to Post #22 I think I'll give cradle to grave another watch. I really enjoyed white gold, shame there wasn't more.
For myself its got to be the following
1. Porridge
2. Only Fools and Horses.
3. Alan Partridge
4. Father Ted
5. Extras
Cradle to grave was excellent, pity Mr Kay wouldn't do a second series, Phoenix Nights, White Gold, Office, Early Doors are also a few of my Favorites along with Shamless and Brassic, Mammoth from the BBC is also very good.
Only fools and horses
Dads army
Fawlty towers
Bottom
Peep Show
That's for me in no order, hard to do it to 5, one thing for sure comedy is not what it use to be, woke/lefty ****s stifle comedy and creation in general.
In reply to Post #18 Or politically corrected
In reply to Post #15 The first two series are untouchable IMO. Everything that followed was just a little repetitive and OTT (even by their standards).
Absolutely Fabulous.
Father Ted.
Royle Family.
Red Dwarf.
Rising Damp.
There have been so many good sitcoms in the past I had to have another go.
The quality of TV nowadays is poor in comparison.

Terry Scott's best role ever has to be Tarzan in carry on up the jungle, brilliant

How about Citizen Smith, power to the people, old Wolfie
In reply to Post #14 Not a fan of the 3rd series of bottom? What about the live shows? Just depressed myself by seeing the third series was released 31 years ago.

In reply to Post #4 Damn how had I forgotten peep show 🤬 so many great quotes!!
My Nan bought me bottom live on video back in probably 92-93. I was way too young but she was fairly clueless about it all. I'll never forget her face when she'd put it on and monicker the blow up doll made an appearance!😆 great days!!
1. Peep Show
2. The Office
3. I'm Alan Partridge
4. Bottom
5. Fawlty Towers
Honourable mentions for The Detectorists, The Young Ones, Dad's Army, Blackadder, Flowers, The Inbetweeners, Porridge and Father Ted is technically British as produced by a UK company.

In reply to Post #2 I've tried hard over the years to enjoy it. Watched it several times over and just can't get into it.
It's a favourite of a good mate of mine and we're off to watch the live show later this year. Hope there's ice cream at the interval otherwise I'm going to struggle!!

Fawlty Tower's has to be up there with the greats

Hi all, hope that everyone's had a great Christmas and new year.
One topic that came up in our house over Christmas was to name our top 5 sitcoms of all time. It got quite heated at times and it's certainly harder than I thought it would be.
My final 5 in the end were...
1. Only fools and horses (annoyingly predictable but I'm a super fan)
2. One foot in the grave (criminally underrated writing and laugh out loud every ep)
3. Royle family (Queen of Sheba ep is a masterpiece)
4. The good life (probably because it reminds me of mum and dad also called Tom and Barbara)
5. In sickness and in health (of it's time but still makes me howl)
I'd be interested in anybody else's choices.
Lots of honourable mentions..
men behaving badly
Early doors
Black adder
Porridge
George and Mildred (don't judge me!😆
