In reply to Post #12 That's exactly what happened over there. The fish were spooking constantly, and everyone started firing at it. Matey took no notice though. It wasn't until the baliff threatened to throw him off that it stopped

In reply to Post #10 If anyone was flying one over my swim the catty would be out with stones in. Have you ever seen carp spooked when a bird flies over and casts a shadow.
I have no problem with anyone using one but just like bait boats only in the confines of your swim.
If I owned a fishery I'd allow bait boats but other than under 🌳 and bushes only upto a distance you can cast upto half way between you and the opposite swim.

In reply to Post #8 If you do make sure nobody else is on the lake. They are really annoying things when people fly them overhead. Last thing me I was in France a guy was flying his over the whole lake and ended up pissing most people off.

In reply to Post #1 This is commonly known as winter fishing…
Water Temperatures go down and the fishing gets harder, it happens every year around the same time. 🤦🏼♂️
Drones make using a Bait Boat look like a legitimate tactic.

In reply to Post #1 Just my opinion, the fish will be in the temperature/thermocline they feel most comfortable at, and as the weather's getting colder it won't be on the bottom. Kiss goodbye to the usual summer spots unless uniform depth...and even then. Try and find where they are by fishing different depths on 3 rods, maybe a zig if restricted on swim. They might even be static in the water column but they might travel to shallower areas on bright sunny days, or travel around on a warmer wind.
A drone may be useless, as at the depth they're at, you might not even see them, unless the waters gin clear and even then with a none sandy bottom you'll probably struggle.
EDIT, what sort of water is it and depths?

Dji mini if you are going down this route
Bet you will end up sending it up in the car park not seeing them and then getting back in the vehicle and going home….

I think you'll be restricted to a sub 250g drone which I believe only have a max ceiling height of 120m. And only the top end ones like a DJI will have a range anywhere near 500m if that.

A drone isn't going to solve this problem.

Been struggling to locate the fish on my syndicate of late - was thinking a drone could be a could way to find them when you can not see anything, been trying old spots - gone other end to where people have been fishing but no luck and others are not catching either. So anyone use one and any suggestions for the cheapest version that will go a 200m up and have a say 500m range that should let me do the whole lake and see if that gives me some clues where to start.
Cheers in advance.
