Thank you for the replies lads, I think its me the problem then over thinking it i will try a load of line out secure it and bend it and see what happens.
Edited to add just walked out a good bit of line with the lad and at different points give it some whelly with him holding the rig end - more than i would on a fish . All good no worries.
Thanks again.

In reply to Post #1 Back when I used 20lb X-line I made a loop with a figure-of-8-knot and then spliced a loop in the leadcore. I never had that loop to loop connection snap.

In reply to Post #1 I loop to loop leadless leaders to fluro without any problems, that’s with the Seagaur reel soft fluro

In reply to Post #1 Yes, TCarper was saying in the other thread that fluro over short lengths will break pretty easily.
Over longer lengths (3 metres +) and with a rod involved it's an entirely different story.
Personally not had any issues connecting spliced leaders to 20lb X-Line with a palomar knot.
For helicopter set ups, a ring swivel passes the knot easily; if I am fishing closer in then I'll use an inline lead set to drop off easily.

In reply to Post #1 I rarely use fluoro but...most knots will snap before the mainline unless you're using something like a well tied palomar, the fact it's snapping up from the knot implies to me it's the line, or the lines been damaged somehow, maybe in tying the knot, strangulation up from the knot maybe, possibly hidden in the lead core sheath.

Been trying to tie 20lb X - Line to leadcore via a needle knot, splice - pull through - 6 down - 3 up - through loop - wet - pull tight. Looks neat, my test is to give it a good pull, but it snaps - retied with 18lb diawa sensor clear I can snap it but need much more force. It snaps up from the knot, do you think this is just down to flouro being flouro? I doubt I could put the force needed to snap it on the business end, but it has put that doubt in my mind now - only ever used flouro for naked chods before with no issues.
