Do great beard oils, in bulk too, and organic EOs. Great quality.

One of the best winter mixes I ever used was nutrabaits 4 seasons with Grave flavour and clove essential oil. The other one to think about is black pepper oil.

In reply to Post #18 Pretty sure Mystic Moments sell it, they have ebay, amazon and their own web store.
Decent supplier of quite a few EOs and core flavour ingredients

In reply to Post #18 Its something that's repackaged by bait companies, you can buy it on Amazon I think

In reply to Post #17 It is but due to Brexit it’s now 25 euros postage to the UK

In reply to Post #15 The bottle in my bait fridge is from feed stimulants, although it’s from a few years back so not sure if it’s still available

In reply to Post #11 I think it was pre forum rebuild J so probably gone. Iirc Terpines is ringing a loud bell too, it's all widely available if you search Propolis constituents or properties
@ Adam, I'm surprised they couldn't guess the Asafoetida, those little white pots from the asian supermarkets, then again I guess unless you cook with it you really wouldn't come across it...but once smelt never forgotten

In reply to Post #12 Where can you buy Iso Eugonel from and what levels would you use per KG?

I used to use Asafoetida essential oil at 2 drops per 1lb mix, this was at the time a so called 'crap base' based on semolina, soya flour and calf milk powders and flavoured with Cipro ,a Dutch flavour ...coloured yellow..
The Asafoetida inclusion transformed my winter fishing to such an extent I had people trying to find what the bait was ..
I don't know if Nutrabaits still do Asafoetida..

Onion, the greatest oil going.

In reply to Post #9 ISO eugenol is an excellent liquid additive, when I spoke to John baker a few years back about a cold water flavour he mentioned iso eugenol and that is in his butt ringer flavour, I bought a bottle for some homemade cork balls and went on to have a very good winter

In reply to Post #9 I came across IE when I first started using Propolis as I recognised a clove type smell in it. That got me looking into propolis and the more I dug the more I wondered if it'd make a good flavour type label. Just google the stuff, espesh the Red Brazillian, I did post on the forum about it some years back.

What is Iso-eugenol? Is it a clove extract?
Aren't there some cough remedies available that use this?
Fenugreek EO sounds good!!

In reply to Post #7 Thanks again for all the suggestions , very helpful and very interesting.
I have a bottle of Iso-eugenol in my shed - left over from from bait making in the 1980’s !
Given the number of recommendations for cinnamon I will explore the various different versions (and cassia) and see where that takes me…..

In reply to Post #1 Not a essential oil as such but iso eugenol is great.

Cinnamon EO is excellent in cold water.

Clove and cinnamon are winners

In reply to Post #1 Thanks guys; a few good suggestions to work on there….

In reply to Post #2 Agree with clove, pretty reliable for me. Another is cassia which has worked well for me in single hookbaits, only used in once in a feed bait, when it worked well but I didn't use it in really cold weather.

I've only used 2 in winter specifically, clove EO with a banoffee, & Fenugreek/secret agent as a glug to varying boilies but strawberry & bergamot gave great results.
My friend used to use aniseed or liquorice EO's with Banana through winter and always did well.
I'd choose fenugreek in a heart beat, it was so instant at times in winter it was riculous, but its not the most subtle.

I’m looking for suggestions please for an essential oil to use in a cold water paste bait.
Base will be an HNV style mix with a very low level confectionery flavour/label. It is for chub, barbel and carp, probably in that order.
I would like to add minute amounts of an oil (or a herb) to ensure that the label combination is unique.
My use of essential oils in the distant past was in Summer; and included mandarin and lavender, both of which caught fish from tricky waters. So something slightly unusual would suit.
Any suggestions or pointers would be much appreciated……
