In reply to Post #16 exactly that, no whistle/cheese option.

In reply to Post #14 I thought with the Google phones you just tell it to take a pic, open your camera and then say hey Google take a picture or hey Google take a selfie

In reply to Post #1 I have a Samsung S24 Ultra and use the button on the pen to take selfies.

Yes, I had the whistle app on my Samsung, then realised it had its own built in voice activation thing....cheese!
Lost phone and replaced with a Google pixel, good camera, but I can't find if it's got voice activation on it, and I've really tried. I'm not too good at this stuff, should of got another Samsung

In reply to Post #1 Open Camera app. It offers you a load of different settings ie number of shots, interval between shots, etc. You just press the button and it does the rest for you. Works just like an intervalometer.

In reply to Post #1 I just use google assistant, you say "Hey Google, take a photo" and it takes a photo

In reply to Post #10 Lens buddy on android.... Absolutely spot on . No whistling or shouting 🤣

In reply to Post #9 I didn't realise you could use other words for Samsung.
For years I've been feeling quite self conscious, especially at night when its windy, shouting SHOOT at the top of my voice.
I'll feel much better yelling CHEESE instead. Thanks!

In reply to Post #7 The Samsung app works with several voice commands, but it's much easier to get it to recognise activation if you say cheese!
When its windy i have tried all the other options, but only "cheese" is reliable.
I always put the flash ON so its clear that the phone has taken the picture, as sometimes the background noise prevents me hearing the shutter sound

In reply to Post #7 The screenshots are good enough for my needs with a bit of cropping on the phone. I'd assume there is some compression or loss doing it this way.
I believe iOS now allows you to 'copy the frame' from the built-in video editor which should give better image quality - yet to try it myself though. If you are using Android you could use a 3rd party app to do the same job (not sure if Android has this built into the OS). I appreciate using another app isn't ideal but having the video footage is way more reliable in my experience

I've looked all over and tried a few but they are all pretty crap apart from the original one.
Are stills from videos good quality? Are you just taking screenshots?
And I have the option to use my phone as is to do self takes but you have to almost shout
' capture ' at it and if it's windy or rainy you end up having to be way too loud.
Whistle used to be picked up much easier and be less intrusive for other anglers

In reply to Post #1 On Samsung phones enable voice operation. With camera app open say shoot and it will take a picture. Can't be simpler. Don't need any 3rd party apps

In reply to Post #1 Sadly on android there doesn't seem to be anything.. I just want a multiple take app.. can't be that hard to do one lol

I don’t bother with apps for catch-selfies. I simply hit record on a video. Then I screenshot the stills after the event.

In reply to Post #1 Not sure if similar on Android but in my iPhone i go into settings > Accessibility > Voice control. Enable it, go into your camera app and say 'Turn volume up'.

In reply to Post #1 Just say cheese using Samsung built in voice control

Has anyone found a decent whistle Camera app for Android?
Used to use Whistle Camera which was perfect but it got removed from the app store, it's still available on some websites but none of them seen that legit.
All other 'whistle' apps are photography apps with a ton of other stuff and bloatware included.
Have a new Samsung and they do have thier own self take options, but one is showing the palm of your hand which isn't an option and the other is to yell at it. Whistle seemed to be picked up alot easier
