The first thing you should do is bin those avid stems.

I've had them fail at the swivel twice (2 different packs), costing me a 40 plus common and a match win on one occasion, and have seen one go through a fish's cheek (no idea how, but it did, and that's the issue)

On reflection, there is no excuse for a big stiff bit of metal like that on a rig.

Lead-wise, even better, go to an independent lead maker (MP leads, Winslow leads etc.) and ask them about the bore thickness. Not only will they tell you, they're likely to be cheaper still

These seem reasonably priced compared to some. Anyone know the hole diameter in them please?

Got some 5mm Avid stems and looking for some cheap flat pear leads to put on them.
