In reply to Post #1 The uprights are an 8mm thread secured in position by a grub screw, the grub screw can be accessed by moving the leg angle cant remember if its forward or back.
The lot will then unscrew to make the upright shorter you will have to cut it down and re thread the upright with an 8mm die, (or continue the existing cut then cut it down) from memory think it was around 30mm in length, there is a slight undercut in the bottom of the existing thread on the upright where the grubscrew locates.
You dont have to put an undercut in but when you get the position you want to tighten the grub screw maybe put a small flat on that part.

In reply to Post #1 Solar sell short uprights attached to the bridge, so i doubt if they come apart without some brutal surgery.
