In reply to Post #1 The baitrunner mechanism isn't offering as much range as the normal drag on a reel.
A front drag can lock up better than a rear drag.
The rear drag style traditional baitrunners will have a range from freespool to semi tight, but are really not suitable for "locking up" style fishing.
If you overtighten a rear drag it can be very erratic, gripping but then suddenly slipping with little control when the pull hits a certain pressure.
This is why many people prefer a front drag on bigger reels.

Hi All
A bit of a random one for all the baitrunner users. When the baitrunner is engaged and i tighten the baitrunner drag right up should it still be possible to mover the spool using a decent amount of force.
