In reply to Post #19 This is where the problem is and probably because they Just don’t actually know the law because they are only hairy assed anglers and not business men.
They don’t want bad reviews all over Facebook or “the gram” so just deal with it but all it does is create a bigger problem because then everyone starts going direct.
If you want to deal with consumers then sell direct simple.
The law is there to protect everyone lol.
But
maybe should have said…
The law says You need to take it back to where you bought it from but thanks for letting us know we will deal with TFT once they contact us.
Trading standards is the place to start.
Then maybe we won’t be fobbed of with sub standard gear not fit for purpose.
Just because some may say it’s out of warranty that does not mean anything.
Especially if you are paying upwards of a grand for a tent.
Should a “reasonable amount of time” be 5 years? it’s not even used on a daily basis…
We as the consumer need to know from our end of what to do If and when anything goes wrong.
Everyone, including those who actually work in these businesses are an end user of some other business along the line.
Whether they are buying a kettle from curry’s a shirt from next or a book from WH Smith.

In reply to Post #15 Sorry mate only just seen this but not much point really, it's historic. A previous experience of the same shop, members on ths forum said they were selling the Trakker V2 Air for X amount and a few had bought from them, and had them delivered free. I went in and asked if they could do it for that price, they said they'd never sold it at that price, I showed them the posts, they said no idea and wanted more even with collection, which I paid as it was still just under best I could see elsewhere. The buyers on the forum were from all over so I don't think it was a case of mates or whatever, and they could just of said keep it quiet if it'd of got them in trouble with Trakker, hey ho.
@17 Framey is quite right but where does it leave you with certain retailers., espesh as quite a lot of names will deal and help direct, it's almost as if Solar are using the law to their advantage, but maybe they don't have the infrastructure in place to do it either, cuts costs.

In reply to Post #16 Under the consumer rights act 2015
Solar do not have any legal obligation to make any contact with the “end user” as “the end users “contract is with tackle shop.
UNLESS
You buy direct from the manufacturer.

In reply to Post #16 You do realise that the vast majority of what tackle companies sell is made in china ?

In reply to Post #11 I had 1 faulty brolly system that in the en I send back as I always pissed off with Total Fishing Tackle and the way they handled it.
I then bought another from a different supplier and it had a different fault - Solar in the end sent me a new brolly and told me to keep the faulty one.
Guess what? The free one they sent me also had a fault - they also ignored my emails about the new one having issues!!!!
I won’t touch Solar anymore - they’re utterly ****!
I was going to get a new barrow before al the hassle but I’m pleased I didn’t as I’ve seen loads of bad reviews about them and a lot of incidents whereby Solar have ignored emails - it seems that not only is it Chinese **** now but the English Marketing Manager is also **** am doesn’t have the courtesy to respond to issues!!!

In reply to Post #12 The shop are the retailers, as such your contract is with them.
It's up to them to sort any issue, or demand a full refund.
If the shop gets the supplier, company or manufacturer to step in then you still don't have to settle for any less.

In reply to Post #11 You guys should count yourselves lucky. I bought a brand new Trakker barrow, in the box, got it home to find a lot of the paint had chipped off all over the place. The shop said I should expect some damage in transit and that there was nothing wrong with it. I asked them if they themselves would expect to receive a item as it was...blank stares...then... it'll get scratched anyway, I said yes it will but I'd like to be the one doing the damage thanks, not our problem, nothing wrong with it, take it up with Trakker.
Sent Trakker the pics they sent a new one the next day and collected the old damaged one.

In reply to Post #10 I hate it when firms state nonsense about warranty periods yadda yadda. The consumer rights act is very clear, and on something as expensive as a brolly system... It should last!
"Goods must be of satisfactory quality, as described, fit for purpose,. and last a reasonable length of time."

For reference I’ve been dealing with solar over an issue with regards an undercover brolly system.
Solar’s customer service is appalling and they tried doing me over on a refund via Total Fishing because apparently the item was older than 6 months - I had to threaten legal action if I wasn’t given a refund and that prompted them to refund me in full!
If TF are right in saying that Solar had refused a refund because its was older than 6 months but still under a 12 month warranty then they are totally clueless!
The email contact you’ll get a response on is from the UK and European marketing manager…,

In reply to Post #8 Judging by the quality of some of the products these days I would say Solar as a whole has gone downhill. The new captive range of banksticks are just junk.

I had an issue with a Worldwide Pod that I'd picked up used but in vgc - there was an issue with the locking collar - Mikey sorted it pronto & £FOC as well as sending a free pot of pop ups / solar stickers (that were peeling off on the buzz bars) for the pleasure . . . .superb customer service
