"Im becoming quite obsessed with trimming down the amount I lug about, as most of my sessions are short I’ve got caught in the “take everything trap” and am trying to focus rather than having every conceivable option available."

Me too.

B&M sell 8 pks of dip tubs for £2.

I've found these to be perfect for carrying small amounts of hookbaits.

You can fit a dozen or so 16mm pop ups in each tub with room to spare for shaking up if glugging.

Can I ask you Vossy1, who printed the divider for you please? That looks perfect and this thread has made me realise how much space the hookbaits on their own can take up.

Loving the divider idea!!

Some good suggestions - thank you

To be clear it's not a weight issue, more of a capacity reduction and streamline.

i'm about to start the 4th iteration of end tackle storage, i'm making an effort to be more efficient and hook bait storage can take-up a lot of room

Popups are al variety of colours/flavours but all bright high attract, rather than carry 4/5 hook bait pots what’s stopping me putting in a mix into the same pot and covering in goo??

Either this is so obvious and everyone is doing it or I’ve just invented the new “edge”….!!!

Some companies already sell mixed colours, I for one am glad as it means I don't have to buy a pot of each. If you're only doing short sessions why not take just enough of 1 that you'd need for that session, or get someone on the forum to print you a divider for yor pot like I did, something like this, helps with the ocd...lol

The little 50ml food pots are great too

Just to add to this, if you’re trying to get the weight of your kit down, focusing on pop ups is not the way to go.

Bang on, I'd get the scales out, weigh your rucksack/carryall/kit/bag first.

Then go through it, remove the I know it's not needed/not used for ages stuff.
Reduce the kit/items/maybe use pop up tubs, re-weigh, repeat. you will get it down to a manageable amount

What I found was that I was taking a whole bait bucket full of hookbaits, even for short sessions. Clearly ridiculous. So I got some small 1oz food tubs off ebay so that I could dispense of the bait bucket and put them in my carryall. The ones with hinged lids are the best because you don't lose the lids. They fit about 6 hookbaits in, dependant on size. A small label on the lid telling you which hookbaits they are and away you go.

You can buy smaller pots - Temu/AliExpress will do 12 x 100ml Pots for pennies - that could allow you to reduce volume and also keep some of the baits more fresh back in the cupboard and top up the smaller pots every now and again.

Greekskii is spot on though..... the real savings are the spare banksticks, leads, backleads, pva containers, random cookwear, spods, etc.

Just to add to this, if you’re trying to get the weight of your kit down, focusing on pop ups is not the way to go. They are light! Focus on cutting weight from other areas by ditching stainless and reducing the amount of leads you take, keep a stash in your vehicle if you need to restock during a session.

I take 4/5 pots of hookbaits; hard hooker bottoms, match the hatch type pops, 1x tiger hookbaits if I’m using them & 2x more visual pop ups (these get swapped out most sessions based on venue and conditions)

This is the trouble with carp fishing that I think most people do, take everything just incase.
I've tried to slim down tackle taken a couple of times. I don't take a lot compared to some people but I also take stuff I know I probably won't use but if you don't have it you can guarantee you'll need it. Like my surface rod for instance...probably once or twice a year you'll need it. I went fishing a few weeks ago thinking mah I won't need that but turns out I did and didn't have anything to surface fish with as I don't take extra surface stuff in my rucksack and my rod is setup ready to go!...things I defo can't not take is my brew kit and my radio though, I usually don't take a frying pan either and just have stuff I can cook with the kettle.

Just take a few of each in pots
Mix the colours and sizes of the same “flavour” can always leave a spare pot in the vehicle.
Do the same for each flavour you have.
I even mix wafters into the same pot but I can tell these because they are dumbell.

My “Special ones” are in a pot similar to sterident tubes but as I rarely use them I only need a couple of them.
These are orange so I can't mix them up with anything else.

Why would you get all different colour and flavour baits and then goo them all? They all just end up the same colour and flavour then

Nothing except you’ll just get a mix of flavours together. But if your covering in goo then it matters not.

Im becoming quite obsessed with trimming down the amount I lug about, as most of my sessions are short I’ve got caught in the “take everything trap” and am trying to focus rather than having every conceivable option available.

I’ve reverted to simple rigs and mostly snowman, 22+popup - self balancing

Popups are al variety of colours/flavours but all bright high attract, rather than carry 4/5 hook bait pots what’s stopping me putting in a mix into the same pot and covering in goo??

Either this is so obvious and everyone is doing it or I’ve just invented the new “edge”….!!!
