When using 2 rods, providing their is room for both reels to be side by side there is no need to fold handles whatsoever no matter how narrow the bars are, you just pick your right hand rod up and just tilt it to avoid the handle catching the other rod and reel, and your left hand rod, just pick it up as normal. Unless of course you have the handles on the right hand side and you just do the opposite.

I never fold handles, their is no need, but its usually with a 3 rod setup where the middle rod is a squeeze to pick up, but, once again you just tilt it to get clearance.

I'm using shimano ultegra xte 14000 so should be OK if basia reels fit ok 👍 I'm guessing the bail arms don't touch either?

I had Basia SLDs on the 4/5inch back/front. Fitted nicely - no folding.
