In reply to Post #1 I tend to stick with what I have so don't keep changing rods for the sake of it, if I were you I'd defo have a look at the Drennan Acolyte rods be it the speci float or any of the pellet waggler rods which will be stepped up over a normal waggler. Those sorts of rods are designed for comercials but naturally there will be trade off re silvers and bigger fish though if you fish well it won't be a problem.
Watching the latest 'Fishing with Carl video Guru are releasing a set of rods in conjunction with him, at a price but not compromising on quality, and by god can they take some stick....though he does break one...lol.
If you're feeling like treating yourself you might also consider a custom made 'heavy' float rod.
Mark Tunley made mine, on a light Torrix blank, certainly not a silvers rod.
Perch, depends on how you'll be fishing for them but I wouldn't hesitate using any of the above for standard worm ledgering. In fact, it might be worth considering a heavy feeder or pellet waggler rod for both your applications.
