Got stopped last week by the guard de peche for not having a night permit for the lakes I was on, luckily they were ok and just waited around while I bought the extra permit online.

Many waters under the carte de peche system do not allow overnight fishing. Many that do have extra restrictions including additional fees and obligatory pre-booking. The two local to me (south of Rouen) both have a 35 euro supplement (per year) for night fishing and compulsory pre-booking of pegs.
For an area, I'd suggest the Somme valley. It has a relatively large number of waters (as well as the river), especially around Amiens.
This link below gives you the local county link. The map shows a number of waters (coloured dots and shapes). You can filter carp fishing (peche à la carpe de jour, & nuit). Be aware that some might be carpodromes (equivalent of commercial, and these in particular may have pay per day supplements to pay).

By using the filters (jour vs nuit) you can see how many actually don't permit night fishing!

If you zoom in on individual waters and click on them, it will bring up their file (click on ‘voir la fiche') with additional info, contact details in case you need pre-book, fees for overnight, etc.

Key point is : just because you have a carte and the water is listed on the carte/AAPMA system does not automatically mean that you can fish overnight.

There's loads mate. Just look at a department map of France and then look at the fed peche website for that department. It will list all the public lakes in that department that you can fish. You won't really find people will part with public lake names very easily.

Looking for anything in particular?
I assume carp, but any preferences? (River, canal, lake (big/small), big carp or commercial, bivvy overnight permitted, etc, etc)
