Use maize alongside boilies? Cheap as chips
Have a look at mad baits they have some good deals at the moment and delivery is free.
They also roll for a lot of other companies do a couple of events every year at there place near St Neots .

In reply to Post #54 That does surprise me. I asked Jason a while ago for a S7 airball stick, I wanted it predominantly to use as a floater bait but it would've been handy as a pop up plug or to balance a bottom bait. He said there wouldn't be a market for it. A airball pop up wouldn't be amiss surely, they do them as fluoros.
I've been given a couple of kilo of DNA the Bug to try and seems nice bait, only issue I've got is the pop ups don't seem to last long! Had a bream in the early hours say 10/12 hours after casting out and the pop up could barely hold my rig up!
I tried my other rod and that's was the same! Sticky pop and Baitworks pop ups last loads longer!

In reply to Post #52 I don't rem the Richworth ones but on a syndicate I was on not long ago a bait that did well was Peach & Black pepper. I used to use the Nash Peach Oil (was it palatant), I still have a new bottle and a opened one somewhere, it smelt amazing.
In reply to Post #51 Those crafty catcher pepper and peach are a real throwback to the 90s, they remind me of those duo-colour baits that Richworth used to do!
Gerry has just linked 50% off at Essex Angling, the price comes off at the till and there's some crafty catcher boilies in there
Honestly I would stick to baitworks and just buy bigger quantity.
Im surprised to see how little people are recommending CC Moore.
I have used so many baits over the years. Sticky Krill and Manilla, Baitworks, Urban Baits NutCracker, Nash baits, Crafty Catcher etc.
The most productive baits for me have been Baitworks Monster Red in the colder months (only used in cold) CC Moore Live system, both cold and warm months and recently i just tried CC Moore Pro Stim Liver, Super meaty sausage/liver based flavour, very spicy and pungent. I was about to purchase 10KG of the stuff but the consensus seems to be leaning towards DNA, good price and quality.
Is there a stand out bait by DNA that most would suggest? The Bug for this time of year?

Wrasbury baits all the way for me
Had the pleasure of fishing with Phil talk about an education
In reply to Post #44 I know mate, bait bias from anglers, I've never found the fish too bothered.
In reply to Post #43 Yeah Phil and Andre are top guys down there,
I had another mid forty on Friday on their pineapple nut boilie, never had so much confidence in bait.
In reply to Post #14 Just bought 10 kilos for £60 to take with me in holiday next week.
In reply to Post #40 If you look at the ingredients the bait is actually better than a lot of the pellet you see so called educated anglers hoof in. Some don't have the ability to think for themselves.

In reply to Post #36 Took a trip down to Wraysbury baits today. 5k of MC Nut, 5k of pellet and a pot of MC Nut wafters £55. Spoke with Phil, what a nice bloke he is. Red Hot Squid looks like something I’ll be taking to France with me.
In reply to Post #40 I’ve used decathlon boilies for prebaiting stretches of canals in the past works out way cheaper
In reply to Post #40 I tend to use particles quite often when permitted and just chuck a handful on boilies on top so 5k would last me ages!
In reply to Post #39 I'll get slated for this again, floor sweepings, blah blah blah, but in the mid teens I took Decathlon boilies out to France with me and they caught equally well to the named boilie I was using at the time. I also use them on a stretch of river as who knows what was going to eat them and they're cheap enough to pile in. I'm going to guess they might not be ideal from a food source pov if the only source of food but I wouldn't hesitate to use them in a situation like a river if particles were getting mullered. Anyway, £3.50/kg when not on offer, thought it worth a mention re loose feed
To be honest, im not even after anything flash as im just after loose feed. I tend to use pop-ups and wafters from either mainline or sticky as i dont really match the hatch.
DNA 25kg £165, £6.60kg free del

In reply to Post #36 I have been using Maple Creams by Victory Baits but he has stopped rolling now because of costs etc. Pretty sure I have also used MC Nut when i fished Willow Park and did ok on it.
In reply to Post #35 They do a pink boilie, (think he calls it 'nutter') which I think is a strawberry scopex type bait, had most of my fish out of Horton Church on it.
They also do some really good pellet mixes, and a good selection of popups, quite a few of the lads from that area are using their bait - I think it's just simple old-school bait.
In reply to Post #34 Thank you. Just sent them a message on Facebook this morning and just waiting on a reply. Looks like it is what I am after. Not a million miles from Wraybury either so I can pop down when i need to buy some.
In reply to Post #33 I think they have Scopex added, give Phil a ring - they're a good bunch, if you want something specific - I imagine he might put it together for you.
In reply to Post #31 MC Nut. Does the MC stand for Maple Cream and are they rolled with Scopex added. Trying to find something similar to what I have been using as usual supplier has stopped.
You'll do well to beat DNA baits for value, in terms of a good quality affordable bait. Nothing but confidence when using their baits, if you bulk buy you will get the best prices.
In reply to Post #29 I've done well on boilies from Wraysbury bait and rolling, caught 20x fish over 40lb and a mid fifty over their MC NUT, on the Horton/Wraysbury complex, to be fair I've done well everywhere I've been with it, even caught 20 fish in 48 out of Linear on it, at a social.
I started on Cell and Manilla back in 2021, and moved to MC Nut, and I've certainly continued catching, probably more fish - but that's probably also due to my angling abilities improving and knowledge of the venue, rather than the bait.
5K for £35, but Phil will normally give you a good discount if you buy in bulk, I just use their shelf-life, never had so much confidence in a bait.
I currently use MC Nut, and mix it with their Pineapple nut bait.
DNA baits 100%. At an average price of £6.50 per kg for the quality is a no brainer. Buy in bulk for this price. 20kg packs
Just to clarify I'm not looking for a cheap bait, I don't believe in comprising one of the most essential factors to catching a carp.
However I was just considering what alternative good quality bait manufacturers are available for a better price? I don't have a great deal of experience with many baits, I've never used Mainline for example however my friend swears by Cell. I've used a lot of Sticky Manilla during the colder months with great results but I've never used Krill which again is highly rated.
I'm happy to buy decent bait, just wanted as best possible deal for my hard earned money, especially in a time where everything but our salary is on the increase!
In reply to Post #27 I'm pretty sure I know what company you refer to and my feed is swamped by their adverts at the moment. Definitely a product designed for those looking at price rather than quality

In reply to Post #26 Affordable………a word often used for bait.
Today I saw a post offering a companies brand new bait at a reduced rate compared to its launch price that it was only a few weeks ago.
I guess that they can only sell bait cheap as that’s the path that they have chosen.
Never heard anyone say anything good about it (haven’t seen it either so I’m not going to judge) but the point I’m getting at is that it’s cheap. Cheap to make, always in a deal and yet nobody is jumping up to tell us it’s changed their angling.
If you want to save money, then buy 5 kilos not ten but don’t ever compromise on buying the better baits with a good proven track record. Plenty of good baits out there but 100 times more cheap ones!!
The bait or hookbaits is the one thing I won’t ever put a price cap on as what’s the point in going angling with bait that they will just swim past?

In reply to Post #24 Might be worth contacting Jason, he does post on here every now and then, in the amino smoke thread last time iirc. It sounds like you may have got some that have had a bit extra air drying, only thing I can think of except incorrect mixing, always poss but doubtful.
I haven't used the shelf life but the only odd critique you see with DNA is they can be a tad soft, personally I prefer them that way. I guess it depends on the mix and certainly ingredients.
I'm sure Jason will sort it out for you

In reply to Post #1 One bit of advice I would give is to not get sucked into buying things just because they are on sale as you will find yourself bouncing between baits constantly. I did that for a few years and now settled on 2 particular baits that I have compete confidence in, ironically 1 being Baitworks. If looking for a company with regular good deals I would suggest DNA, otherwise as people have already said, stick with Baitworks as it works for you, maybe use a little less boilie and a few more pellets or something to bulk out the feed and make it a bit cheaper
In reply to Post #16 That’s what I was hoping for, mine really take some crushing up, first time I used them I came home to check the bag to see if it said freezer bait, reminded me of a 90s shelf life, well that’s probably an exaggeration, they’re not literal marbles but they take some crushing in your fingers
In reply to Post #13 Direct from dna on one of their bulk deals, freezer baits too, not what I expected to be honest
I definitely wouldn’t be buying a bait based on whether it’s a pound cheaper than something else. In my opinion you should make your selection based on what’s in the bait and if a good one is a pound a kilo more expensive then so be it.

In reply to Post #1 Make your own.

In reply to Post #1 I tried to change baits this year, not out of cost but purely boredom and fear of missing out.
I’ve pretty much used the same bait for 6 years plus, the occasional tweak as I know the roller.
It didn’t go well. I know the bait I went onto was good, taste smell, reputation- but after 3 non spectacular sessions, I couldn’t resist taking a kilo of my old bait and had a brilliant day. I really don’t believe it was the bait (it was winter) but the baby Jesus playing with my confidence.
I’ve just come back from a UK week long trip, using the old favourite and used about 5 kilos of bait, 15kg pellets, 7 cans of corn (the smaller cans) and some chopped worms (1kg).
What I’m saying is that sometimes you are better staying with confidence and using cheaper pellet or corn to bulk up.

In reply to Post #18 Sticky krill £34 for 5kilo if you buy at the right time go outdoors

Sorry I probably should have mentioned in my OP it would need to be shelf life.
I can get Sticky from my LTS for £8 a kilo too which is reasonable. All of the suggestions are great, thanks.

In reply to Post #1 Try Trent baits mate. Excellent service and really good products
25 kg of fresh or stabilised, 1 litre of glue/ liquid and a pot of hookbaits
£185 including postage.
The freshwater shrimp is an amazing bait.

In reply to Post #11 Strange as I find them to be almost too soft for the ridgemonkey boilie crusher they turn into paste between the chopping fins.

In reply to Post #14 Just seen Oxford carp baits are offering 10% off currently as well.
Brilliant baits and Tom Stokes don’t half catch some fish on it 👌

Have a look at Mirage baits ...especially the Ressi special very good baits indeed ..
In reply to Post #11 Did that come direct from DNA or a shop?
In reply to Post #11 Never experienced that with any of the freezer bait from DNA

I found bug disappointingly hard, not a slight on its catching ability as it catches loads, but I prefer a softer bait.

In reply to Post #1 Try Poacher Baits mate. Excellent bait.

For years I only used CC Moores XXX and LS and thought it was a great bait. But I got a kg of live system recently and it seemed very hard and quite powdery, not how I remember. Maybe it has always been like that or maybe the recipe has changed I don't know, but it still seems to catch fish.
I'm only a couple of months back into carp fishing after more than 10 years away from the scene and I've had a a punt on Poachers with the 20% discount code - 3 tubs of popups, 1 tub of wafters and 5kg of TNM boillie delivered for £72. I've no idea how good it is, but feedback on here is positive.
If I was in your shoes though and already had loads of confidence in a bait, I'd just use a little less and balance the books that way.
In reply to Post #1 Poachers Baits are excellent and are currently on offer. You can get 15Kg delivered for £6.50 a kilo, now that is a bargain. Freezer baits only though.
In reply to Post #1 I'm not and never have been a CCM user but I l know plenty of people who have and I'd have complete confidence in it. Personally I use DNA which can also be had reasonably priced for say 10kg, worth a look at their offers.
(I'm also trying Handcraft Tricknut this year because I want a nut type bait and DNA don't do one!)
In reply to Post #1 I’d rather use less of what I was confident in than use something else just because I could buy more tbh.
Just buy in bulk? That’s what I do and you can get baitworks down to £7 a kilo
In reply to Post #1 DNA baits gets my vote every time. Fantastic price which bought bundled deals comes up great value for money. The bug has done wonders for me
I normally use Baitworks which I personally feel is a fantastic bait and have confidence in! I also must add I really like knowing I support Mark and Mike by doing so. However with the increase cost of living in pretty much every aspect I'm looking at alternative options sadly! A good friend recommended CC moore which to be honest is a good price at £80 for 10kg including X2 hook bait tubs and free postage!
I was wondering what people's opinions of CC moore baits are sore if anyone had an alternative option for me to try?
Thanks in advance.
