In reply to Post #31 Yea seen these on Ali express, obviously cheaper copies, but they’re literally a couple of quid, they do Mikita and dewalt ones…. Definitely a cheaper alternative and hardly take up any space

In reply to Post #30 Iv had a few over the years and found they took ages to charge, didn’t charge much and d it didnt last long till they broke. Best thing I did was get a usb adaptor for my makita batteries. A 5a battery lasts a whole weekend easily (obviously if you already have a power tool)

In reply to Post #26 Power packs / batteries when not in use at home they are stored in a fireproof box not in the house as when these things go bang they can create a serious fire which can be quite hard to extinguish.
I don’t keep them in my bivvy

In reply to Post #25 Ok to add to the conversation, what about products/carryalls or whatever to store all our power banks/packs and iPads , chargers etc in …
I was looking at the storm shield pro tech by avid , looks smart and has two external usb ports , which I think is a nice touch ..pricey mind you …
Any thoughts ????

Just beware of brands like EC that you can get on Amazon. I bought a 20k pb that's supposed to have 2amp output and it's incapable of powering an avid heated blanket that needs a 2a supply. My other pb's power the blanket np at all.

In reply to Post #19 Using a 100W device it will last over 2 hours.
Granted it's not a very big capacity station but it works for what some would want it for, laptop charging, baitboat battery recharge, camping fridge or powered cool box etc.
It's not for everyone if all you're doing is recharging a phone or usb devices, but it can work for others. Like i said elsewhere on here, my similar small power bank ran my laptop all day every day for weeks in France this year. Yes I did also solar recharge it, but it enabled me to "work" from the bank. (one of my work laptops is mains power only, not usb and very high wattage.)

In reply to Post #1 Look at Amps as the fuel tank, not sure how long that would run a small fridge for, probably better off with a decent cool box for a couple of nights. I've got one of these and it does me for 3 nights no probs for phone and tablet.

In reply to Post #1 im sure people have success with those things. But I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole. Pribabky a cheap lead acid battery and £5 worth of tat. There is no way that is going to stay water tight. I have the big ridgemonkey one, no complaints, and it's very well made. You'll likely never regret having too much power, so get the biggest you can afford.

In reply to Post #1 Realistically, if all you want to do is recharge your phone or ipad a few times, you could easily do either of the 2 options
1 - buy a 12v motorbike type battery, 7ah (10ah are only a few ££ more) for around £14 and then a cigarette lighter adapter for a few quid...... Then you have the same as in that bucket without the fancy fitting into the bucket. This will also do your mini fridge if it's 12v.
2 - buy a couple of power banks, 20,000mah regularly come up on offer for around £15 (check in the bargains share the knowledge thread in general discussion)
Other options, lifepo4 12v battery for around £50 ish will be a much better long term option than the option 1 lead acid above or the ebay bucket.
Portable power station, tons of options, but there offer better solar recharge options and addition of 240v 3 pin plug sockets IF they're even of any use to you.
Personally, for you phone, ipad, trakker fan use I'd go for a few power banks. You could have 5 of them for the price of that ebay bucket

Hi all, does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on which power banks are best and good for the price .
Have been looking at this “:type of thing”…..
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204551685297?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=KVlhe-4QR3S&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_PPYakNtTe2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
But they are quite bulky, so would I be better going with a fox/wolf/ridgemonkey kind of power bank …??? .. which are obviously smalller the size of a a few decks of cards….
It would only really ever be needed for two nights on the bank realistically and would be used to charge my phone and iPad a few times, and maybe run a tracker fan .. and if I could my small fridge ….
I don’t really understand all the different vaultages and amps etc , obviously he higher the ampage I’m assuming the longer it lasts …
Any advice very much appreciated
Carl
