I have a standard vauxhall combo (2020 reg), I can wheel my Carp porter big boy into the back of it up a scaffolding board, it just fits with the backdoors closed.

In reply to Post #1 I've got a Ford Kuga need a family vehicle. Got myself a heavy duty dog ramp take a couple of bits off the barrow, then straight in the back. Ramp slides under the barrow in the car.

In reply to Post #17 Well they say beauty's in the eye of the beholder
I like a squarer boxier look, not at all keen on the rounded Berlingo/Vauxhall. I remember when I first saw a fully custom new face-lift Citroen Dispatch, that'd give the transporter a good run for it's money, tbh I'd have bought that over the Rifter but it's the Mrs car so I was vetoed! Thing is she wanted a small nippy number, was dead against another mini van at 1st, now I can't get to drive the bloody thing she likes it that much

I'd totally agree but the new one is no looker
As brilliant a vehicle as it is ... im not sure i would class any of the models a "looker"

In reply to Post #12 It was a standard Caddy not the Maxi but with 2 inflatable boats (packed down obviously) 2 motors 4 batteries and two set of anglers kit for a week away meant we had to make sacrifices on some items that the Transporter would of accommodated, like I say I like to take the kitchen sink had to leave that out for a start

In reply to Post #11 Get it mapped and an EGR delete, 40-50 bhp more, better torque and better fuel efficiency

Ice-cream vans, they're the future.

In reply to Post #10 I'd totally agree but the new one is no looker
I still have/ had from new my 07 plate Multispace, still going strong

In reply to Post #4 Had kit, bait and food for a trip to France in my Caddy for 2 people, so you must have been taking the kitchen sink🤷♂️

In reply to Post #5 Yeah, ford ranger here. I love it! Expensive and thirsty but fun to drive. I do keep the rods in the front though as I don’t have the cab back. You would get a barrow made up in the back if you had the cab but it wouldn’t be very easy pushing it up or taking it down.

ive had 3 Berlingo Multispaces in the past ..... Swallows a barrow (handles removed) .... Ive also had 4x4's, Estates, Sports cars and performance saloons ..... If i had to have only one vehicle again it would be the Berlingo ... not the coolest, nor quickest but I loved them. The most versatile vehicle on the market imo

In reply to Post #1 I had to sell my VW Caddy van once both kids started school and traded it in for a VW Passat estate. I have to unload the barrow and lift it in but other than taking the handles off it stops in one piece. Having had a van for 20 odd years specifically for fishing ,I thought it’d be a mare going to a car but I’d go as far as saying I prefer it now.

Berlingo perhaps but I'm not a big fan. Also considering Ford Grand tourneo connect.
I looked at both in March and plumped for the Peugeot Rifter (Berlingo/Rifter/Vaux thing are all the same). The GTC was nice but I couldn't justify the price difference. I'm not sure on load areas (cant remember) but most are designed to take a euro pallet so its much of a muchness. I prefer the styling of the Rifter/Torneo, more aggressive/van like, the Berlingo is more car like, and I really don't like the Vaux on looks.
We went the Allure Rifter though did look at the GT but didn't like the plastic/cheap feel of the sky light.

In reply to Post #5 I've had an L200 in the past, fun to drive but always found the load area awkward for fishing as long rather than high. Assume you don't push a barrow into it?

In reply to Post #2 That's essentially what I have now, short wheel base with a row of seats in the back. It is great as a family vehicle, can throw bikes in the back etc. But lucky to get 34mpg, road tax is high.
I did consider just getting a newer van but prices seemed to really jump during/post covid with demand for delivery vehicles plus all those people buying campers.
Not going to pay loads of money for a van with 150k miles on it that seems to be the norm.

In reply to Post #1 I've got a ford Ranger Wildtrak and I love it, only problem now is I get in my wife's MB and its like driving a little tikes car.
Loads of room in back plus its kitted out like a decent car and quiet to drive. No issues with tracks to lakes either lol

some years ago now 2009ish I went from a Transporter to a Caddy and regretted it within months especially when I went to France as I could take the kitchen sink in the Transporter had to cut right back with the Caddy.

In reply to Post #1 I’ve been thinking same, got a transit but would rather have something smaller and cheaper to run.
I’m thinking Ford Transit connect or VW Caddy Maxi and a ski box on roof rack for the rods.
Barrow should go in ok fully loaded but without the rods

In reply to Post #1 I’m needing to upgrade from a van to a family vehicle. I’m trying to find an inbetween solution, a crew cab van. Possibly aftermarket folding bench in the back so I still have space for a barrow to go in without collapsing it.
Might be worth a look.

I think I'm going to have to change my van fairly soon. It's a Renault trafic so transit size and as much as I love it I'm not sure I need such a big van again. Not the cheapest thing to run and used vans are still quite expensive.
But I do like the luxury of being able to just wheel my barrow in and out. It's a family vehicle so needs to seat 5 and it does both well.
Are there any other vehicles that will do the same? Berlingo perhaps but I'm not a big fan. Also considering Ford Grand tourneo connect.
