Im currently looking at new reels. Currently own xtd's which have been good. I figure I need to have a play with both before making any decisions.

£240 vs £370 plus if i dont like them I'll sell them and buy the Xtc.

Only point I have so far is that the handle does not fully fold in like the Xtc, otherwise the Xte looks and feels perfect under my new Fs ES.

Why would you buy the XTE when you've been told the XTC is a better reel by most of Facebook

Also bought a set of XTE for a nice price

Anyone replaced the felt washers with Teflon washers? (not an ice/carbon washers fan)

Yes, but to my understanding it's different than the older, true ci4 models that are advertised as such (in title and on the box).

Not doubting what you guys are saying (that the XTE is a step up from the XTC), but I really struggle with the question how it can be that a Ci4 model that costs more, is worse than an official non Ci4 model that is way cheaper?

How do you like the line roller and clutch spring (we all like to hear that tiktok like a clock) on the XTE?

They are both made out of ci4,the xte has silent drive, parallel body and rigid cast.I prefer the shape of the newer reels but I don't like the fact the handle on the spod reel does not lock into place when packing away

To you guys that have owned both, would you say the drag is faster, slower or similar on the XTC, compared to it's predecessor ?
Thanks.

i want to buy the XTC or XTE, can you tell me whats better on the XTE?
XTC lighter, from what i saw in shop better material on the XTC, + XTC = waterproof.

Got a nice shop deal on the XTE ( (2 set for £240) but still need a Teflon washer upgrade and are not waterproof, also saw that the handle doesn't fold down all the way on the XTE vs the XTC.

Hard to see in shop that the XTE is the better real vs the XTC.

Bought 3 today.
I am well impressed to be honest.

I was going to get a set of Basias for myself soon but I don't think I will bother..think I will save the cash and get a set of these.

Have you all seen the 'XTE Performance', which has waterproof drag (that the normal XTE doesn't have) and Teflon washers.

Neither unless boating rigs out to long range, smaller reels one the 5000/5500 size are more than enough for most UK venues.
