Bit of a barren, windswept pit. Water levels were seriously low so you had your rods 20 foot down the bank from your bivvy. Very weedy in a few of the swims. Between 20 of us, there were 3 carp out in 2 days and i had a 62lb cat on wafted tigers.

Just bringing this thread back.

After a long hiatus from fishing (due to young family and work)….I’ve managed to get a 48hr session booked (as part of an exclusive). I’m glad just to be able to get out onto the bank these days, but any additional tips would be welcome. I don’t have a bait boat, and not particularly good at long range fishing, so the odds probably aren’t in my favour 😅

Are you allowed to use a boat to net the fish? or are we just talking about a bait boat to deliver the bait into a gap in the weed? Is it really ethical to fish when you know you are going to have to skull drag any hooked fish through weed beds in order to land them.

You REALLY need worms, and a boat..
People without worms or a boat will catch 80%less that everyone else..
The weed is horrendous, loads of fish left caught in the weed when people have to snap the line.. The bailiff won't come out everytime a fish gets stuck.
Try to find a clear spot and don't give any line

Anybody fished here recently - got my first trip here in 3 weeks - what's the weed situation like ? I think maggots are banned now but are worms still worth taking ?
Will I need chest waders for netting fish

Any other tips appreciated

Cost mainly and the fact that i have a freezer full of boilies that i need to start using and a bucket of spod mix. I will be using my boat to drop baits off with as well.

Fish do come out on boilies etc. but possibly not as many using worms/maggots. Just not a lover of worms.

but nearly ALL the fish come out to maggots and worms mostly at distance from a boat..
the fish are addicted to neat piles of worms and maggots..why decide to use boilies,it doesn't make sense.

What even if that's how the majority of fish get caught?

One of our group caught 39 fish and another 36 or something like that, all the people with boats, worms and maggots caught a quite a few fish, the people casting and without maggots and worms really struggled..
Also the next group of people (22) came on and no-one had boats, they caught 4 fish between them. I lost 2 fish..
The angler with 39 fish used 10 kilos of worms and gallons and gallons of red maggots.

What hook baits do people tend to do well on? I have bottoms, pop-ups and some tigers but will prob decide when im there what to use. Massive head if fish in there so may end up re-stocking from the shop if i can get on the fish. 20 lads on a charity match and swims are drawn.

Yep, I've had some issues on there with morons crossing into my bit of water. They need to ban bait boats, always create issues when in the hands of noddies.

Solid bags with a dozen spombs over the top seemed to work recently, some swim boundaries are questionable…. Some anglers think they can send their boat anywhere….

Nearly all the big catches come out at about 30 wraps or more and nearly all of them are using bait boats and worms.
Although the people catching never mention the boats(or the worms)
🙂
Peg 2 is where most people want to be..
