In reply to Post #6 I purchased a sonik spod rod and reel with braid for under £100. It performed absolutely fine. I was spodding all winter at 18 wraps and was fine (had to wet the braid every cast though) I noticed 1 of the rings wasn't whipped on straight so I emailed customer care and they sent a new top section out to me FOC. I believe you get lifetime warranty with all their products, or at least their rods. They are far from top end products but they are great budget range...........well at least the spod rod and reel is.

In reply to Post #1 The Sonik Vader X range isn't promoted as a top end rod as far as i can see but rather a value for money mid range rod. It all depends on the usage and circumstances i would suggest. You wouldn't buy a bike from Halfords for a few hundred quid and expect to compete in the tour de France kind of thing. From my experience the Sonik range is as stated good value for money but as stated not without the odd issue as with most rods in that price point. Most of their rods come with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing fault which is always piece of mind but not sure on this model.

In reply to Post #1 If you like replacing rod rings.
I got a Vader X spod and marker rod to test and the butt ring has had to be replaced after the insert cracked and fell out.
The next liner up has had to be Araldited back in.
The rings frame are soft enough to bend easily and allow the liners to fall out.

In reply to Post #1 Most Sonik gear is decent with the exception of the reels, which are pants. There are plenty of decent budget rods out there to choose from, but you won't go too far wrong if you choose these

In reply to Post #1 For a budget rod they are pretty good, cast OK, good feel etc. Yes there are better rods out there but for the price you they are good. Only issue I had was with the handle as it is quite short compared to other rods, I upgraded to the Shimano TX2 and found that the longer handle on the TX2's made accurate casting easier.
