I am looking to join a syndicate in Kent - is there any latest on Mid Kent Fisheries (MKF)?
Their website hasn't worked for a while.
Because of work/family commitments right now, I can't justify the circa £1,500 per year on certain lovely waters nearby.
I'm wanting a water that is not as busy as the day tickets I visit - granted, I know a syndicate will be busy still, but I'm wanting to visit a few waters near Whitstable to get a feel for the venue, then hopefully join if there is room.
Cheers.

In reply to Post #11 From what I’ve witnessed over the years I have to agree!
I had very little time on the MKF ticket so I may not be rightfully allowed to comment on this subject.
As far as I’m aware, MKF have been a good servant for many years to lots of anglers, giving them choice and a good stamp of fish to go for.......but.......my short experience of these waters has been hugely disappointing and a reminder of why I reduced my time on the bank in the UK.
In the UK my opinion is, as carp anglers, we’ve been fed upon by greedy companies and landowners. Lake owners that pack too many anglers on to tiny, over stocked venues are coining it in to the detriment of the surroundings and fish and things have got to change.........maybe this is the time for the ex MKF lakes......although I certainly agree that some of their venues seemed devoid of fish and curiously shut for spawning many, many times resulting in members losing vast swathes of time on the bank.....not that you could easily get to the banks of a few of their lakes! (Very poor access, especially to Handle)
I’m all for change......let’s hope this change of management results in huge improvements!

conningbrook i think was 50 member. 450 pa, up from 250 pa just for that lake.
hut and bird costs 450 ea, this was 350 on gold last year.
MKF removed the toilets a week after giving notice. these amenities were already paid for so mkf saved themselves some money.
tbh. can wildfowlers do any worse than mkf?.... i doubt it.

Kent Wildfowl conservation society. A Shooting club gaining the fishing rights to some of Kent's premier carp waters. Dont think I've heard of anything like that before? I wonder how that all came about then?
One of the previous posters was right mind. MKF did have a bit of a rep for moving fish about..
I noticed Conningbrook wasnt on that list. What's happening with that?

In reply to Post #11 Has Westbere come on that much? I used to live in westbere and fished it for bream/tench when it was on the CDAA ticket. Live way too far away, but is it worth paying 3x as much as a ticket for Fordwich? Especially as the fish used to disappear off to the lagoons when it floods
Not that I can, what with living 300 miles away lol

Update on wildfowlers site. Basically nothings changed price wise. There was some .. shall we say.. negative output from MKF regarding the new lease owners and how it was a sad day for Kent angling but what's turned out may just be the opposite. There might actually be positive progress with the new owners and no more raping waters for their fish for redistribution and topping up other MKF lakes....

In reply to Post #9 Looks like there will be few changes to how they are run now.
KWCA are pleased to announce the acquisition of the lease of twelve of Brett’s lakes at Faversham, Milton/Chartham, Westbere and Lydd.
We expect fishing to continue as normal at all waters under the Brett’s umbrella, and all existing Mid Kent Fisheries members may continue to fish these venues under their current membership conditions until 31 March. All those members will be welcome to join the KWCA to continue fishing for the coming year, and hopefully for many years to come.
Please do not try to apply for membership or contact us yet as further details will be available on this website soon.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Nope, it's not Embryo... I'm sure they won't do any worse than MKF have been doing for the last decade or so...
I suppose the only real question will be on what's still in the water to fish for come 1st April 2022.

In reply to Post #2 Dig deeper for less choice i guess.
Not to worry, plenty of alternatives out there.

In reply to Post #1 "Bird Hut & Scout lake will be made into a syndicate and Conningbrook will also be made into a syndicate"
Will they be the only three they have?
Who knew that in the space of a couple of months, both Loggy & Pocock would both lose much of their grip on Kent.
Who knows, it'll either be a good thing in terms of breaking the monopolies, or it just means people will have to dig deeper for less choice.

Big changes announced overnight. A lot of their lakes are going at the end of March 22......
Chris Logsdon
Admin
Following a review of the current leases along with increased running costs I will not be continuing with the Bretts lakes leases as of 31st March 2022.
Mid Kent Fisheries has a long standing working relationship with the Brett group but after a recent breakdown in communications unfortunately we are not able to continue working together.
Mid Kent Fisheries will continue on a smaller scale, Bird Hut & Scout lake will be made into a syndicate and Conningbrook will also be made into a syndicate.
I would like to thank you all for your support over the past 20+ years and hope you will understand the decisions that have been made, some of which are out of my control, but my health and family have to come first. I do not have any confirmed information on who is taking on the lakes, any enquires should be forwarded to Brett group, Estates department.
Existing members can fish as normal until the end of the season, normal rules will apply and the bailiff team will still be covering the lakes.
More details will follow over the next few days about the new syndicates.
Many thanks
Chris
