That is on my bucket list too.

By that time i'm fully expecting the local scene to turn to mush. Hopefully I'll have a few more original old Redmire Leneys in my album before they are gone forever. because it's going to happen sooner than we think.

Care to share some details of the car? PM if you would rather. (cars are one of my biggest failings since a very early age)
Not quite in the same class but my Christmas present to myself is a new rod tip so I can use my old leeda twin tip rod.

I had those reels when they first came out, not great if memory serves. This whole 'vintage' craze escapes me completely. Each to their own of course.

Xmas? Just be nice to have one this year. Last year was fecking depressing.

I ordered some stuff directly from Clarins for the wife’s Xmas present, the box has just arrived and they’ve used dissolvable PVA nuggets (lots of them)to protect the contents .

Just managed to get hold of a Edgar Sealey Octofly 8’6”, 2 piece vintage split cane Trout fly Rod, original condition, line rate #5 c 1960’s.
Not for collecting thou - it will get used, should be fun learning to use an over 60 year old Rod.

Yes,I searched and searched, the only proper dedicated ST,rod was either Hardy ,or a real vintage ST rod which was one of the first made for bream fishing on the Welland..

Then..

I found a chap ,who has lots of original unmade fibreglass and carbon blanks, all sorts of stuff, from when he was main rod,and reel repair guy..in a famous tackle shop, now shut..

So ,I contacted him,...should be ready around Xmas,I live virtually opposite a brilliant small water, but I'm not after the carp as they reside in my album,it's the big roach I'm after..there some proper bigguns ,and they not hollow either..so it's potentially a good bit of kit, just different to quiver tipping and floatfishing Ian Lewis floats close in...there's little resistance to a taking fish..

Strangely all my big Roach have come to 10mm resource boilees, they brilliant for big roach and cru..

Not Carp related but I'd like a topkit case for my pole.

@Wandle, New old skool swingtip.rod.. Nice to see there's still fans of swing tips about When I got my father in law back into fishing in 2011 he was using his old gear, quiver with 1/2oz lead and swing tip on another. I took him to some of the 'easy' day tickets I fished and he outfished my 'Carp' methods by a good distance, without a bite alarm. At the time I was using Solar Quiver arms (the fibre glass ones) but I'd use them as light swing arms. He took one look at my set up and said 'why are you fishing them the wrong way round' ie, reel side of the alarm. I've posted this on the forum a very long time ago but that did stick with me, why do we fish fixed arm indicators reel side, surely to minimise drag they should swing with the line,,,anyway I digress...apologies
