Hi gav I'm sure you have seen but thought i would mention it for others, the lake has been taken over and they have been putting a lot of effort cleaning behind the pegs and tidying up the islands, the pegs on the boards are closed and are going to be redone at some point this year as well. Also a new hut in the car park. Looks promising.

I tend to fish Lias more than any other lakes, ive only ever seen one 20+ come out of that lake, I do remember fishing up there about 6 years ago and found 2 dead carp washed up under the boards, Both of which had been eaten by something. Excellent lake to fish, heavy baiting really works there, Shame that the owners will not let any anglers use the toilets onsite, In my opinion that is just rude, happy to take your money but not let you use the facilities, They have now put in 2 potaloos but they absolutely stink and are proper minging.

. . .wish they'd revert it back to a syndicate again . . .lake with pub nearby!

Some of the originals escaped into the canal . . .including a 40+ fish that got caught from one of the side channels nearly 20yrs ago!

That sounds promising, but I think with the canal so close they will always get unwanted visitors. Might have a jolly up there myself soon.

Cheer for info bud, have fished their since British waterways took it over and stocked it at the end of the 90s. Always said if ever caught a 20lber out of there that I would never fish it again as mission complete. Had loads between 15 and 18lb over the years and have had a common and a mirror of 19lb 4oz on different occasions when fished the lake a lot. Since we could all go fishing again after the first lockdown last spring have seen plenty of photos of peoples captures of carp close to and over 20lb as I'm head chef at one of the pubs in the village. New bailiff employed and living on site that actually fishes and knows what he's on about, work done around the lake with new boards for swims, regular maintenance, litter picking and it's back to being as busy as it was 10 or so years but without loads of matches makes me want to be a regular there again. Loads of good memories on the lake over the years especially with groups of friends when we were young who no longer fish. Wanna try winkle out a 20 after all this time 👍

First saw otters on there December 2013 not knowing what they were, had to google the noise they were making, something was topping around my swim and in the low light could see it weren't a grebe or a foot. After a while it popped up with a fish in its mouth and made a noise, suddenly 3 animals jumped into the water off one of the islands. After realising what had caught a fish was an animal with white on its neck I googled it to realise it was otters. Packed up and left, as got to the car park the owner was coming to do his rounds, he's known me for years and refused to except it was otters saying can't be must be mink. Still had my day ticket money off me. The next time I went to the fish the lake he apologised to me saying I was right and it was otters. A few months later they had left the lake after emptying the caravan park pond and seem they ended up at Napton Reservoir after taking a fair few Carp from the canal. Otters were on there again a couple of springs ago but ended up being “road kill” not far from the Blue Lias. Fear otters and some not allEastern European's that fish the lake have took their fair share of the stock from there but hoping that this means what's left in there has got bigger.

Sorry mate stopped fishing it two years ago when they found loads of dead carp on the islands. Probably still loads in there but the presence of otters had definitely effected the fishing.

First fished the lake as a teenager when it opened as a British waterways venue in 1997, can just about remember the lake as it was before they took it over when it was a syndicate with only a few pegs which were gaps in the vegetation and the stocking was very low but they were all very large. Fished it a lot between 2002 and 2005 creating many good memories with friends on summer evenings or fishing dusk til dawn and caught thousands of carp out of there. I have always said since those days once I have a 20lb plus carp out of there I will never fish it again. The biggest I have managed out of there are a mirror and a common of 19lb 4oz. Have not really fished it in the last 3 or 4 years until this winter and am now looking at a personal mission of having a 20lber out of there. It's very busy these days and there's loads of night pegs there now so I'm looking for a bit of upto advice for fishing there before I pay it a visit next week. Tactics years ago was method feeder loaded with vitalin and particles or heaving spodding of bait all day to have 20 plus runs in a day session but stocking has dwindled got older, wiser and average size increased.
Any info took on board and thanks in advance
