In reply to Post #44 I was a touch worried that the poles seemed quite snug, but after a few uses they are fine. When you pull them apart, hold the poles some distance from each other i.e not at the join, then you can wiggle the poles a bit and they come apart fine.
Still really happy with mine, I use the over wrap and it's luxury having the bed lengthways and a seat inside.

In reply to Post #42 Try pulling them 😂😂😂
Seriously they will loosen after a few uses…
Make sure you take the tension strap off as well and twist the poles under tension pushing upwards and it’ll be easier.

In reply to Post #41 The poles are a right pain in the arse to take apart. Any ideas to make it easier

In reply to Post #40 Purchased the Compact version myself, used twice now, ticks all my boxes, easy to put up, compact but loads of usable space inside.. I’m 5” 11”.... my head doesn’t touch the top ... material is fantastic.. put the door up in bright sunlight and it’s pitch black inside...

bought the tactical compact and it was delivered today, paid £190 for it. first impressions are what a fantastic bivvy.
the shape is brilliant,my bedchair (wychwood tactical) pushes all the way to the back and when sitting on my bedchair my head doesn't hit the roof,I'm 5ft 8 so not the tallest.
the room at the front is plenty and will fit my rucksack, brew making, buckets etc and more usable space than my v2 tempest brolly.
relatively quick to set up. i have the compact so the standard bivvy must be huge. things I like,
I love the shape of it
quality of it seems great (time will tell)
pack down size is small
more usable space then my tempest brolly
I think my tempest brolly will be redundant until let down by the wychwood. I bought the extra mozzie front.
really happy with the purchase from initial set up and inspection

In reply to Post #38 Bought one of these with the extension.
Put it up in the garden and first impressions are:
Great shape
Great feel on material
Material is a little shiney for my liking
Ground sheet could be thicker
Nice weight
Easy to set up and pack away
Poles are a little bit difficult to take apart
Overall I'm very impressed out on the bank for three nights in it soon

I'm seriously considering selling my tempest Advanced 100 and buying one of these after seeing them in my local tackle shop.

anyone bought the compact??

In reply to Post #35 My only concern was regarding no multiple height pegging points at the front.
So if your swim is not perfectly flat it could be a problem

In reply to Post #34 I was out in mine on saturday and it rained A LOT! It seems strange but it's difficult to answer your question, the top is flat, so some rain does settle, but it's so taught that it's not a lot, it doesn't puddle.
When it started to dry up in the morning I tapped the bivvy to bead all the water off and a bit did stay on the top, I had to lean over and wipe it off.
Sorry, bit of an inconclusive answer.
I just don't get peoples issues with putting the bivvy up at all, it's so easy, peg the back in and then the front, using the groudsheet as a guide, for what it's worth, I leave the tension strap connected up.
I like the look of these..one small question I'd like to ask..those who now have them..
When it rains, does the water settle on the top of the bivvy,or does it run away nicely..
The reason why I'm asking is I had a Chub tribrid, which was similar in design, and the water formed a big pool on the canopy, above the door..
Serious, question, not having a dig or anything

In reply to Post #30 There's a new video (you tube) on both the compact and the standard sized bivvies. Worth a look if you want a detailed review on them

any other user reports on these, really like the look of them

I have found I've chosen to use mine every time over the tempest brolly, I am loving it. I don't get peoples erection issues at all ( ) it's a piece of piss.

In reply to Post #26 I only noticed this again because of there little advertising campaign (I say this lightly) of new tactical bivvy accessories popped up on my FB.
Guess what, pics only!!
Where's carpology when you need them lol

In reply to Post #25 one thing that let's wychwood down is the marketing of their products, they seem to do just enough to get the word out there. I'm sure if they had a responsive interactive team they would shift more products. I too like this bivvy, but until I see one in the flesh I'm not going to even contemplate it.
In reply to Post #24 I was thinking of getting one due to the shape and especially the price.
Does anyone know if wychwood have a digital team or is by taking 2 or 3 pics showing off there new bivvy sufficient?
Would love a proper video review on one

In reply to Post #23 Hi,
Looking at getting one of these as it seems to tick all the boxes. One question I have is what's the pack down size?
Wychwood released a PDF on setting this bivvy up but they have after pressure announced they will be releasing a video shortly, TBF Gregs post was not far off the mark for setting this bivvy up, I took mine this weekend for the first outing it had a proper test 60 acre open pit in the teeth of the wind stood up to it very well, it was setup in an uneven swim slopping from front to back with no issues using the PDF as a guide, I was very happy with it nice bit of space, good headroom, nice flat back to get the bedchair right back, the wide door is a plus as well, for £250 notes it gets a from me.
In reply to Post #21 a few of them do

In reply to Post #19 Amazes me that bivvies don't come with instructions especially when they haven't released a video.

In reply to Post #18 Cheers greg. I had another go today. I ended up pegging from front which worked also:
Poles then tension strap
Pegged out from sides and door
Inserted front 2 tension poles
Pegged out rear
This worked. It’s so rock solid the back pole is almost irrelevant
There is definitely an art to it, it’s not shaped like a normal bivvy though so bound to be.
Superb bit of kit once you figure it out
So this is how I set it up and I think it has overcome the problems:
1. Connect poles
2. Connect tension strap. Largest setting.
3. Peg the 2 points at the back left and right of the centre point.
4. Pull forward. Peg 2 points by the door.
5. Peg other 2 points at the back so it's flat. May need to adjust the sides at this stage.
6. Move to the front. Peg remaining points then the side.
7. I then only use the 2 front tension bars rather than the 3. You can then put the others in if you require.

In reply to Post #16 Same happened to me about 15 years ago with an armo, trakker sent a new strap out which was about 6" longer and it was fine after that!
I found on a pram hood bivvy I owned that the tension strap was slightly too short which then increased the height so you couldn’t peg it in........ditched the strap and used the groundsheet hooks and it dropped the front about 2 inches and no more issues........give it a try.......

In reply to Post #12 That’s an impressive fish Gerry 👍 well done mate

sod needing a protractor to get the angles right
my 13 year old nicked my Pioneer this weekend and put it up.

In reply to Post #12 So I have tried to follow the advice offered on pegging slightly better but still not right... the issue reverts to back! The back pole doesn't take weight barely touching ground. I guess with a lot of fiddling maybe able to improve slightly but remain convinced that this poorly designed and particularly difficult unless you have flat ground.
I have heard from someone in the trade that wychwood know about this issue ...I am generally a fan of wychwood and have a lot of their tackle but amazed that there are no instructions or erection video ...particularly when it's clearly not straight forward...very disappointed!

last weds slept all day in it !
after staying on my rods all night catching these

In reply to Post #9 Mine just arrived. Great bit of kit. Exactly that, just needs pegging correctly 👍🏼
In reply to Post #9 When was the last time you slept in a bivvy Gerry ?
In reply to Post #6 I Had a bivvy that PROVIDED you pegged it correctly it was absolutely fine
the back had to be vertical if you flared it back instead of upright the front would be short
In reply to Post #1 I’ve had a message from a guy on one of the fb groups who has one out on the bank now. There is a certain way of pegging out and it is fine, he’s sent me pics and al looks perfect. This is what he said if it helps:
I’ve moved swims and put the bivvy up again got all pegs in fully.
I found when setting up connect poles hook in tension strap get upright and put peg in by door to stand up peg by pole ends then outside back corners keeping a square shape attach tension poles and peg back and sides straight clip in ground sheet next peg outside front corners put peg through both D rings either side of main zip and peg 15 degrees inwards then peg door peg points just in line with ground sheet 😎hope this helps

In reply to Post #6 Yes very disappointing, it looked and sounded very promising.
Looks a good shape.
This sounds awful. I seem to remember
An armo copy many years ago that had the same
Issue. No excuse after all these years.
In reply to Post #4 Mines coming on Wednesday. I’ll get it set up in garden and see.
In reply to Post #3 There's a video on YT of a guy with one. Looking closely, it appears he has the same issue..
In reply to Post #2 Yes I have same issue, most bivvies have two or three front pegging options this only has one which is not great particularly on uneven ground ...a design flaw (need more pegging rings and the front section needs to be two or three inches deeper) real shame as otherwise great bivvy! So really need flat ground and make sure use the widest option for the strap under groundsheet.
In reply to Post #1 Anymore feedback on this mate, have just ordered one
I've just bought one of these and I'm struggling with the set up. The pegging points just seem to far away from the ground. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone know the correct way to set it up as wychwood have still failed to make a video.
