Just an update. Danson received the sling back on the 7th and had until the 10th to issue a refund which they did not do and no response to any messages so ebay stepped in today and issued the refund for me. There a bunch of cowboys.

Not used Danso a lot but when i have there's never been a problem. I had to return an item via their Ebay store a couple of months ago and that was fine, refund received the day they got it back.
They used to be great for a "cheque spread" back in the day...

In reply to Post #29 Well i ordered a bivvy and overwrap from Danson's eBay shop mid June, paid in the afternoon and they both arrived the next day. So i can't fault that.

In reply to Post #28 Danson angling probably only surviving due to mail order and no local competition never met so many rude staff theres a young bloke who seems the exception, only been using them because tackle box are click and collect at the moment and I do miss having a look after hearing one of there staff give some bad advice to a chap returning to carp fishing, I will never step in to there shop again.

This thread has made me remember an issue I had years ago with them. I bought a profile special from them after seeing an advert in carp world. It was the first time I'd ever used them. When it turned up something was missing, I can't remember now exactly what it was, but it was something like a storm pole or maybe the adapters. Any way I've remembered I had several unsuccessful attempts to get them to send me the missing part and in the end I think I got it directly from Nash. Never used them before or since. Surprised they are still in business.

I used to be a regular ten years ago and thought that their bad attitude was because they didn't like me for some reason. Turns out, as mentioned below, that the Danson mob are like that with everybody!
Since owning a car I've never set foot in there since, I'd rather spend another 20 minutes driving to get to the TB than ever spend another penny there!

In reply to Post #24 That doesn't look familiar either.
I'm not local to the area and I definitely got the name and address of the shop out of one of the mags. I'm fairly sure it was Carpworld and if I hadn't see their ad I'd have had no idea the shop existed.
If it wasn't Danson then I have no idea where else it could have been, someone in Kent sold me a Chub Cyfish around May 2006 though
Oh well, guess it's not that important now anyway.

In reply to Post #21 Are you thinking of Johnson Ross? They are very helpful with a car park out the back

In reply to Post #21 Maybe Mark 2 angling now Angling Direct?
Only other shop I can think of is the one that was in welling but that was match fishing oriented?

In reply to Post #14 Not talking about the Tackle Box, I've been there too many moons ago. Bought a Nash Groundhog from them.
I could have sworn the place I bought my Chub Cyfish bivvy from was Danson. It was certainly Dartford area, not that far from the M25 but definitely not the Tackle Box. I found it from an advert in Carpworld, did any other Kent based shops advertise in there?
It had a yard out the back with a couple of cars in that was accessed via a fire door from the shop, that's where they set the bivvy up for me. However I've just looked at Danson on google earth and the back of their shop doesn't look at all familiar. Have they moved? I would have been there in 2005/06 ish.
Got me questioning myself now
The spod and marker rods I definitely got from them but that was mail order.

In reply to Post #18 Years ago I brought 3 Dave Lane Classic rods in there and had the cheek to ask them to get them out of their cloth bags, lucky i did as 1 had a broken ring, so saved me an hour each way to return them and with their attitude it would have been my fault. never shopped there again

In reply to Post #2 8 days are up now so its with ebay and paypal. Still no response from danson.

In reply to Post #13 I've had the same experience in store as you and Bob. Won't go in there again, and if they are that bad face to face good luck to anyone who shops online with them.

They might advertise a wide/large range but after I wanted a sleeping bag and was told they needed to check in the warehouse, its not likely to be a large shop! Only used them twice that I can recall...once when they were banging out those old Trakker Pioneers IIRC? and the sleeping bag. Both times chap on the phone seemed OK but probably more intent on making the sale than customer satisfaction ......

In reply to Post #1 Within the last few weeks they sent me the wrong item. I asked for an exchange and heard nothing Requested a return still nothing so had to ask eBay to refund money. It would have been so simple to sort it out easy with a reply to first message. I just won't use them again.

In reply to Post #13 Maybe he's talking about the Tacklebox they have a car park?

|

In reply to Post #10 You are confusing it with a tackle shop. There's no car park, you park on the pavement at the front. It's small with limited stock. They advertise everything then get the manufacturer to mail it on. Woe betide you if you enter and expect service while the staff are playing on their computers!

In reply to Post #10 set a couple up in the car park for me so I could compare and decide.
Are you talking about Danson as they haven't got a car park.

In reply to Post #1 Bought a bivvy off them years ago and they were very helpful, set a couple up in the car park for me so I could compare and decide.
Also bought spod and marker rods off them a few years later by mail order, turned up on time and price was good.
Not ordered anything from them in over a decade though so my review probably isn't a great deal of use
Didn't realise they were still going to be honest.

In reply to Post #8 Thats all well and good if the shop is in your area but no good for me as the nearest decent shop is nearly 100 miles away so its always mail order and im not making a 200 mile round trip for a weigh sling. Just out of interest I sent them a message on how long it would take for a bivvy to arrive if i ordered it today to see if they would reply to that and funnily enough they replied back straight away. They will happily reply when there taking your money but dont want to know when they have it there bank. Just going from this post 5 people have posted negative comments on them in 1 hr, speaks volumes of how **** they are.
One person on there facebook page ordered 3 new delks and a receiver and they only sent the alarms and stuck a note in saying the receiver will follow later when they have them in stock, 3 wks later still no receiver and there not answering his email or calls.

I've never had a problem at Danson, a pretty standard tackle shop with decent stock and straight talking staff. Had an Avid bivvy that fell apart bought from there. They just gave me a brand new one there and then.
Always seems to be the online shoppers who have the issues on these threads. If I'm buying something of any value I make the time to get to the shop.

In reply to Post #1 From a issue I've just had they (any seller) have 8 days to reply from you opening the return/refund, once the 8 days are over PP or Ebay step in (as long as you tell them)
...bloody annoying that....I'll just keep hold of their money for as long as possible springs to mind

Has anyone had any issues with this shop? I bought a avid weigh sling from there shop on ebay and when it arrived all the stitching was coming away. I have requested a return through ebay but they still havent accepted the return a week later, they dont answer any messages and dont answer the phone. There facebook page has loads of comments on it regarding similar problems ie fauly gear or stuff going missing in the post and you cant get in touch with them to sort it out. Has to be the worst shop ive ever used in 25 years of fishing. Ive had to get ebay to step in to sort it out. Definitely one to avoid.
