It would be interesting to see the results , if anyone has used cannabis oil , i know it works for pain relief but also it has many medicinal properties to trigger a healing response ? when applied to the effected area , obviously not consumed as a drug , of course !

It was just some 2” Velcro from eBay or Amazon, cut the loop part long enough to wrap abound your foot with an overlap and then cut the hook part say 3 inches long and use it like a buckle on the top of your foot. Easier to do than explain, as mentioned you do (or at least I did) need to pull it tight for it to work.

Been suffering with this myself for the last few weeks or so. Not as bad as what a lot of you guys are currently dealing with. The wife and I usually go jogging a few times a week. Not sure if it’s coincidence,
I have not been at all this week, yet the discomfort as eased.
Will see how it goes next week once we go jogging Again. Thought exercise was supposed to be good for you.🤔

Like I said it worked for me and it was cheap too, the video basically shows the Velcro method, the tighter you can stand it the lesser the pain 👍

This might help or give you a few ideas

Tape example here

I had mine done at a chiropodists. Bought some carbon insoles, £170!!! been a lot better since. I have posted in this thread below. I had x rays the lot, nothing, I believe I may have had a very bad case of turf toe but the tape menthol is similar

At this moment in time I'll try anything, the pain I have in my left foot is excruciating. Even the Naproxen and Co-codamol don't seem to be having any effect. Don't think it helps stood up for 10hrs a day and wearing safety boots, the doctor did ask can I sit down at my work no chance being a wholesale butcher . Have been given stretching exercises to do from NHS physio but the pain seems to have gone worse . Have had the injections in my right foot and can agree with what others have said not a nice experience, but the pain just went eventually.

I had this for nearly 6 years, I put it down to carry extra weigh, cheap toetectors at work and being stood for 10 hours a day on cold concrete floors. I suffered in silence for long enough but was finding at the weekends I was struggling to walk any great distance say over 10/12 miles (I’ve been in to backpacking/wild camping for years) I had injections, orthotics specially made , ibuprofen etc. I found shifting a bit weight helped but the breakthrough came reading on the net, about a US construction worker who wrapped gaffer tape tightly around the arch of his foot and it disappeared overnight!! I found using 2” wide Velcro fastened so the soft side was facing out from the foot and pulled really tightly worked wonders, it occasionally nipped the top of my foot and became uncomfortable but eventually it went and touch wood it’s still not back. I sometimes get a twinge if I’ve stood on a ladder for too long but other than than I’m well pleased. Give it a go, only cost a couple of quid too...

I have used them and they "seemed" to provide some comfort but maybe it was just the pressure as they are quite tight. I ended up with one over the other to increase the arch padding to see if it helped but it really didnt.
I also used the shaped support ankle bandage type thing and this also didn't work.
When i saw the specialist for assessment before my injections i asked him if any of these pads or tension bandages actually heleped at all and he said they're all a load of rubbish

Seems nasty. Keep persevering, keep going to the doctors etc etc and hopefully you’ll get that scan and have it sorted out with a proper diagnosis. Sounds worse than the plantar itself.

I am experiencing pain like you wouldn't believe at the moment. It's not in the heel but around the edge at the front of my left foot, near my small toe.
Doctors are stumped, been for x-rays but they can't find anything wrong.
I was due to go and see a specialist and maybe have a scan on my foot, but this was called off due to coronavirus so ended up just having a telephone consultation with said specialist. Had him really stumped as well, he just send me some insoles.
They are helping but I'm still getting this pain. Feels like somebody is sticking a red hot knife through my foot.
My pain threshold is reasonably high, but this pain when it comes is around 9 on my personal 1-10 scale.
It's so bad that I had to pull the car over the other day because I couldn't depress the very light clutch.
I can just be sitting there, no weight on my feet at all, and it just comes in waves.
Can go three or four days without any real discomfort and then bang!!
At a loss, because when it's really hurting I can't walk.

Tried physio myself along with insoles and painkillers but unfortunately didn’t work for me.

Pleased to hear that it worked for yourself as it’s so nasty.

I have recently recovered from Plantar Fasciitis and all i had to do was physio and muscular strengthening. Tried insoles, changing footwear etc and nothing would help

my physio said if i had an issue with my hamstring for example, that would eventually have a knock on effect on other muscles and tendons in my leg. I did lots of strengthening and stretching in my glutes, hamstrings, calves and achilles and within 3/4 months i was completely pain free

Suffered with mine for around 12 months and was off from work for around 8 months. Volteral worked for a short time before the pain was back. Afterwards that’s when I had injections in both feet.

Think I was kind of lucky then. Mine passed after a couple of weeks. Sawing through a branch up the allotment and thought I'd stamp on it. Big mistake,it needed more sawing. Never heard of the condition but funny enough when I was in A & E met another patient there who also had it. My sympathies to anyone living with this condition. Very, very painful and made me appreciate having good mobility as it obviously massively affects getting about.

It didn’t look fun. We went to Disney in Florida that year. We hired wheel chairs every day at the parks and I pushed her around. I think I actually lost weight that trip!

My Mrs had it a few years back in both feet. She had all the injections, but no luck! One of the doctors she saw, decided to treat it aggressively and put both her feet in plaster for a few weeks (I can't remember how many), and that cleared it right up. *Touches Wood* she has not had it since.

It could well be creeping back in. Think I went around 2 years then had to have 1 of my feet injected again and touch wood some 20 or so years later it’s behaved itself.

Good luck.

Plantar is like having a piece of lego stuck to your heel, nightmare stuff.
I had the injection a few months ago and other than a few flashback stabbing pains and aches it's been mostly ok but its starting to become a dull ache again and im worried it is sneaking its way back into my life.
Hospital assessment next month (if it goes ahead) so will see how it goes.

Long may the pain free continue as it’s such a terrible thing to suffer from as the pain is akin to walking on glass it’s that acute.

Started to suffer from it not long after getting a dog and taking him for long walks, mostly wearing trainers. Even had a 'heel spur' where a lump protrudes. Started wearing proper walking shoe with an added gel insert and after a while, the pain and the spur disappeared.

I’ve had a google mate, found a video, deffo turf toe

I think I have kept straining it

Gonna try the insoles again but I had my foot taped at the chiropodists and it says this is what I should do. Basically stop bending the toe upwards.

Apparently it’s common in athletes so it kind of makes sense

Worth a check on Wikipedia mate and hope that you manage to get something done regards the pain as it’s just nasty.

Thankfully the injection worked for me for a few years and had to have it done again but fortunately it’s been pain free for around 15 years or so now.

There are side effects though which did settle down for me which included a burning sensation for a day or two.

Good luck if it is that as I feel your pain.

Mmmmmm. That was a mate at work who told me it could be that. TBH the docs and hospital were rubbish, all sorts of theories and not one mentioned “turf toe” which i found during my own research and I believe I had / still symptoms of. Torn ligaments at the back of the big toe joint. I would have surgery today if I could!

Turf toe is a sprain to the metatarsophalangeal joint (MTP)—the largest joint in the big toe, which connects the first bone in the toe and the first long bone in the foot. When the MTP joint is injured or sprained, it can lead to varying degrees of pain, bruising, swelling, and sensitivity below the joint or at the ball of the foot.

The MTP and the other joint of the big toe, called the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ), are supported and secured in place by the plantar complex, which consists of tissue, ligaments, a tendon, and small bones. Turf toe occurs when the big toe over-extends, injuring the soft tissue in the plantar complex.

The insoles made a big difference for me. Still not 100% though, possibly repetitive since it took me so long to get the insoles ffs!

Plantar is mostly confined to the base of the heel. Push your thumb into the heel and you’ll feel the pain.

If you find that it’s unbearable upon putting weight on it after you’ve been sitting down then it’s defo plantar. The pain eases after a few secs/mins and becomes bearable to walk on.

I had it in both heels. Had a cortisone injection in one and then sweated like a pig knowing the other one was to come.

Inserts help but a cortisone injection is the way to go.

I had it that bad that I’d literally cry in bed knowing what was to come when I got up as I had to crawl on my hands and knees and then gradually try to get to my feet.

Never known pain like it.

Now we’re talking.

I have had a pain in my right foot for a few years now

I’ve had a bit of foot damage in the past, martial arts stuff, ligaments, broken toes etc. But this takes the biscuit so to speak. I’ve been to the docs many times and had Xrays, the job lot and it’s still on going, not as bad as it was though

I get a pain behind the ball of my big toe and into my arch. Do you think this is it?

Anyway, I now work with a lad and he said that I had it. He had a carbon insole for 6 months and he is OK now. I went to the chiropodist and now have some carbon insoles, at a premium lol, seems a lot better, stopped wearing them after about 3 months. Funnily enough I felt a tweak yesterday

What do you think doctor

No I don’t have flat feet

Used to have it in both feet. Used to lie in bed thinking I’ll have another minute then I’ll get up as the pain was just excruciating to stand on. Never experienced pain like that. Injections feel like they’ve hit a bone and then they keep on pushing.

You have my sympathy should you ever get that.
