Hi,

Does anybody still use the Virus?

Heard they have a new version coming out which some of the testers have been using.

In todays world I would say Social media is also a good resource for info. If you cant find anything on the forum about Eclipse try the facebook page if you have facebook.
I see you noticed the change in prices which now includes delivery. This was done as Eclipse invested in equipment to bring manufacturing costs down and decided to pass the savings onto its customers.
Before anyone asks if I am affiliated, I look after their webiste for them hence knowing this info.
As for the virus its either that or the Iconic Franfurter which is my go to bait. Trust me im not a great angler so I need all the help I can and I have huge confidence in both baits.

I have used it and I rated it, really strong smell to it and a fairly soft bait.
I also used the moorland mix on three occasions when I went moorlands and did really well on that also.
As said though Keith at moorlands moved over to dynamite on his lake last year but never heard a bad word about eclipse from anyone there.
I went to live system for a season or two and actually had better results on virus. That’s not to say it’s down to the bait of course many other factors can cause this.
This season I am starting to think to go back to the virus however I’m still undecided it’s between eclipse, live system and then also looking into proper carp baits and haul em baits.

Sometimes Dave is at some of the show’s with eclipse and does some good deals on.

Thanks for replies guys. Appreciated.

Answers fall in line with the little i know about them thus me looking for more info.

Find it interesting that Keith at Moorlands should be using the Dynamite Complex-T. Dynamite are usually labelled low food content high attract by lots on this forum. I've used a couple of Dynamite myself including the Source which i rate highly although more the freezer baits which is the opposite of some who'd take the shelf life.

Anyone on the Complex-T?

IIRC Eclipse is used by Keith at Moorlands. He seems pretty happy with it. He's on Facebook so may be worth a look on there.

I used Virus for a few years - great bait and done really well on it. I only stopped using it because I couldn't rely on them to get my order right when ordering for delivery (got sent shelfies rather than frozen amongst other issues). If you're collecting in person you'll have no problems. If I still lived local to them and could collect in person I'd happily continue to use the bait.

Review of previous threads will tell you all you need to now buddy. Off the top of my head, proven baits at a good price include:

Trent
ABS
Baitworks
Premier

You really can't go wrong with any of these imo.

A 5 word reply to a question from a potential bait supplier would be enough to put me off bud. Bait is one of the most important aspects of carp angling. You need to know what you're using.

Please no need to apologise.

I'm not new to using the forum just to actively being a signed up member.

I've read through threads before where people are clearly posting in their own interests or those whom they represent so i know it's a problem.

Eclipse simply came up in my research and i wanted more info if people had any. They were a remote option for me and as you suggested ABS is the frontrunner.

If your a genuine forum member and not a spammer i am sincerely sorry for assuming you were. However after the recent spamming posts perhaps you can understand my jumping to assumptions.Again sorry for my mistake.
I've not heard of eclipse baits. Personally I'd look at A.B.S but depending on where you are based there may be. Other more convenient options.

Appreciate your reply.

I don't consider myself a novice when it comes to bait and have looked and indeed spoken with Blakes Baits for example about the ABS range because they have a better site at the moment.

I asked about Eclipse becuase i know they have been around a few years and they are decent prices delivered. My concern was few reports exist from users so i thought it useful to ask the question.

I have used the ABS MC Nut in the past and liked it but fishing it along side what my dad was using i was lagging a little behind and i have a few years carp experience on him [i know other fishing factors come into play]

It is highly probable I'll be using an ABS bait when i look at choosing my bait soon. As to which...

My advice would be listen to those who post recommendations on this forum. We do it because it works and we like to share with like minded anglers. Personally I would highly recommend Geoff Bowers at ABS or Jason Rider at The "A"Bait, who I have used for the past 10 years with great results. I can't honestly say I know anyone who uses Eclipse baits. However I do know Neil Martin who is listed on their website as a consultant and can vouch for him as a decent guy who knows his stuff. Good luck.

Thanks. You see that was the point really to my original post which was shot down immediately.

I was looking for unbiased opinions becuase as i mentioned in another message here what a bait manufacturer lists as top ingredients is not necessarily indicative of a good bait. I used ABS as an example of a manufacturer who have droves of reviews and unbiased opinions on this site and others therefore what i/others read can be believed.

I'm sure Eclipse Baits are a solid choice but given i havent been able to find regular angler reviews/opinions it makes choosing them more risky than an ABS or Sticky.

This is why i signed up to ask the question because guys past or present might have user experience and help me and others make informed choices.

Not new to reading the forum but these are the first messages i have ever submitted.

I've enjoyed reading this forum and have found numerous useful links and tips so thought signing up would allow me to find specific answers/opinions to questions etc.

Thanks. I'm looking at a few companies and Eclipse was one of them. I've read the site info and watched some of the videos they have produced. Of course all companies describe their baits with all top ingredients and feed stimulants etc but it doesn't mean such baits are successful against others.

I'm looking at ABS baits for example. I know they are reputable and have a top team/minds behind the baits and they sell through various shops online. That reputation is built on people sharing their opinions and honest views.

I had heard of Eclipse Baits years ago but finding users not affiliated with the company is difficult and through making a choice to stick with was looking for unbiased views.

I'm sorry mate, it was just really bad timing on your behalf if your a genuine poster if you read the "successful baits" thread you will see why.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about eclipse but i have used a lot of other baits, if it's of any help and your genuinely looking for a bait to use with confidece that isn't too expensive that has a long track record then I would suggest Malarkey from Blake's baits (same as malarkey from Active Bait Solitions)
Another from Blake's I have done really well on is krinella.

If you don't mind spending a bit more money Hydra K from Active Bait solutions or HNV Pro from Blake's if you want to go all out.

Been a long while since I used Eclipse baits, I think the Virus was being worked on as I stopped using them.
I doubt Dave would skimp on anything to be honest and if your reaching out was an email or some other means that isn't a telephone then I suggest giving them a call.
I know a guy that has used the virus recently so will point him in this threads direction to see if he can help you out.

Appreciate your sensible response to my question. I exchanged a single email with the company but the answer to my question was about 5 words thus i came here and signed up to look for people unattached to the company for their thoughts.

Ok. First ever post. Not affiliated with any one at all. I've had a year or so out of fishing and i simply wanted honest views on the bait, no more. Almost sorry i signed up and asked.

Was looking for long term users, is the bait soft, smell etc. I reached out to the company but got a very brief response so was looking for people with their own opinions. Thanks.

I have never used eclipse baits but i did look at them out of interest in the past, didn't get as far as getting a sample though.
Looking now they look reasonably priced £70 posted, but what do you get for your money?.. I'm sure they were more expensive when I looked before and concluded abs or blakes baits would be better for the money based on past history, but with free postage that's not bad. It doesn't go into much detail on the extras that make up the bait though so I can see why the OP is asking..
From their site..
The Virus contains LT94, pre-digested fishmeals, salmon extract, whey proteins, calcium casseinate, veg proteins and a blend of special spices. In addition to an extremely effective feed stimulant that has come from the aqua-culture industry.

Or they could delete the posts that are not relevant to the OP's question? I hardly think Dave needs to go down the Successful Baits route do you?
I just think threads need to be given a chance before people jump on them.

Are there any Eclipse Baits users with feedback on their range out there? I've read through previous messages etc on them but haven't read much about the specifics of their bait.
I'm particularly interested in their Virus range.
