Went on there for the first time in years a few months back because I had a notification from Apple that I should change my password on there, which I did and now it won't let me log in! Doesn't look like there's been much happening on there for years now.
Such a shame as it was a right laugh on there, I learnt a lot from some of them and The Special Ones album was absolute pure gold.

In reply to Post #1 Absolutely!! Was so much fun and had many a social with various members back in the day. Such a shame when it closed down, it was a big part of my life on those long cold winter days.
Danny longcast was amusing! And the next thread ever was the sonning eye thread.
Eventually I got shot by the cemex sniper as did many! Still not sure if it was Singy or hippy Rob that pulled the trigger.

In reply to Post #1 Was on there early 2000 as Big Ghostie
There were a few lads who fished waters in Hampshire like me such as Hatchet,Water Park etc
Some were very secret squirrel which is fair enough one in particular took offence when I mentioned a relatively
known lake saying that I would ruin it for locals etc etc
Funny thing was no one was allowed to fish it any way I wrote and sent a letter to the landowner and subsequently obtained permission for myself and a friend 😂

In reply to Post #146 Brilliant
I mean, who goes to a social and fishes through the day?
I done the same, not quite to that level of success, but I got dumped into the corner swim right by the bottom car park. Didn't fish during the day, just walked around having tinnies and smokes and when I got back to mine, i'd flick a few boilies in and start the process again. For some reason, I brought a lure rod with me and yanked up a 2lb+ Perch from under the bridge on the island, then lost a mid double croc the following cast just bouncing a koi pattern shad off the bottom.
Great weekend had by all, probably the best pond for a social.

In reply to Post #141 ocelot - I still have pot#1 from both batches the mk1 & mk2, i also have the first pot from the Doctor Stickler Little Balls Ticklers i did.
The pinks pussy have caught me fish where ever ive used them, UB baits made the all the batches and did an amazing job.
And yes we did have a laugh along the way with nearly 600 raised for the hospice that looked after my mum at the end of her fight with the big c.
Great memories, great coming together within our community, people i had never met or spoken to in real life paying 10, 20 or 30 pounds for a pot of pop ups.
I donated all the remaining tubs to the Stoney and Friends stand at the Big One the following year.

Young V Old match at Sandhurst... When the young cherubs got taught a fishing lesson (by moi).
All the young cherubs in a mad rush to get set up and claim their prime swims.... Ole TCarper came out the draw last... Ended up in a **** swim no one whatsoever wanted. As the young cherubs tied their chod rigs... TCarper erected a brolly, shoved Casper the carp dog underneath it on his bed... And proceeded to spod out a whole bucket of rotten garlic hemp into his **** swim with no carp in.... Oh how those cherubs laughed at him with their fandangley boilies, folded handles and five man shiny bivvies.
Then TCarper ****ed off for the entire day. All the cherubs were honing their hooks, curving their bristle filament and recasting if a roach farted.... TCarper got drunk, and ate all of the cherubs food, all whilst laughing at them, repeatedly.
At 9pm just on dark, after the entire team of young cheubs had fished hard all day since early morning and caught **** all between them... TCarper staggered back to his swim... Flicked two S2's out onto the garlic hemp (which Sandy carp had never seen before)... And proceeded to haul carp after carp all night.
TCarper won the weekend long match all on his own in a matter of hours... 9 fish landed, two originals that had not been caught for donkeys. Those useless cherubs caught a couple of pasties between a dozen of them.
And there, ended the young cherubs lesson. Know your place cherubs... Never, ever forget it...

In reply to Post #116 Is he a grass to? Oh his repertoire just grows and grows it does. Never done anything except try to help him Wayne. Because the owners of Fortis called him out on 'that' forum, about some hook baits which I'd actually given away for charity... He went on some campaign online to tell every sod they were crap. It had nothing to do with me LOL. I guess he thought, because the owners of Fortis had built my website, that they were involved with me. They were just about to start Fortis.
The moment we started doing the Mainline ones, of the type him and his pals were crying were crap... He got in touch with me Wayne... Because he wanted some of what he had been screaming on 'that' forum were crap. I'm guessing some one was clumping his lake with them. I took great enjoyment from ignoring him, and blocking him.
I do hope he lost a bit of weight, I feared for him if I'm honest. No wonder he is quite savage online.

In reply to Post #106 Is this site now the alamo of the social media driven angling world?
I was on the black forum. It taught me how to conduct myself online and I learned a vast amount from it. I Still have friends to this day of whom I met on there. Sadly, Facebook and insta do not conjure debate and a flow of conversation. They are merely a picture book of sunsets and filters now. Then again, some of the content does induce the urge to go, especially when those taking the photos have knowledge on how to capture a moment.

In reply to Post #99 I always thought he was alright. But he did not like me either lol.
He put some post up about he needed bic oars. So anyway, I had loads sitting in my garden behind a shed (I use little paddles). I had never spoken to him, ever. I pm'd him, and said I had two that he could have for free. Also that I was attending a charity thing for Stoney & Friends in Yateley in a week or twos time, and that I'd leave them behind the counter for him in Yateley angling. He said that would be amazing.
Anyway I dropped the oars in for him, and a few weeks past. I had not heard from him via pm, so thought he may not have gone and got them. I pm'd him again, and asked him if he had remembered the oars. He sent me back a pm, saying something like "Yeah I did". Some thing like that anyway, it was enough for me to think.... Yeah that's alright pal, no wonder people don't like you much LOL.
Where I come from, you thank people who go out of their way to help you, for nothing.
He probably was a user I argued with as TCarper, but in a secret guise. They ruined that forum, no one else.

In reply to Post #78 He's horrible bloke online really. One of those really morbidly depressing kind, who never has anything good to say about anything or anyone. When I actually met him, I sort of understood why he might be the way is he online. I don't think I've ever met a heavier young man for the age.
He came to my old house, asked for some of the balanced hook baits we done. Then much later, whinged online that his pop ups did not pop up. I think he's not all there in the head myself personally. I'm not surprised Wayne does not like him at all.
That stuff about my hook baits and charity/Fortis owners, they were saying he had tried to pull some fast one or something. I cannot even remember, that's how much it involved me, or I cared.

In reply to Post #74 And the only reason, was because people could see my pm's couldn't they, they knew how much of it was moving right from the start. It actually started on there, sort of with blessing. But then other outside influences got involved.
As for members, wow, That Masons/Kapscarper on that thread... He has slagged me off rotten. I met him once, sold him some buzzers cheap. I even defended him a bit, when another nice member Medway who was actually there on the lake at the time gave him some stick, for being a mouthy sausage online. Then I gave some hook baits to the owners of Fortis later, one of them sold them for charity or something, and there was some big bust up between that Kapscarper, and the soon to be owners of Fortis. But Fortis had not started then. They had just built my website the two blokes. I don't even know what is about, but they are straight up men... But it's me who's products got slated by him over and over again on there I'm told. Our crushed corks more importantly.
So fast forwards to last year. He PM's me on faceache, and asks how to buy some crushed corks.
I thought I'd better not say what I really want to... And just blocked him. I hope he finally managed to lose some weight, for a young man, being that obese is very dangerous.

In reply to Post #65 Daytimedave is on my friends list on faceache, and Miller has bought bait from me I'm pretty sure, I've definitely spoken to Clive at some point since back then, but can't remember when.
Lewis has a missus and a teenage daughter now. He's still as camp as anything. I spoke to him yesterday on the phone.
I love Lew Lew, he's a legend.

In reply to Post #58 Listen, let's have it right... Danny Longcast, could cast 277 yards, with a 1 oz lead and a Woolworths starter kit. If you questioned him about how this was possible, he would hunt you down, and jook you up good n proper. Or something like that anyway.
Oh the memories, some funny ones.
DogTramp the absolute legend. Oh I have some stories about that place. Most of the worst posters that REALLY wound everybody up, were mods in disguise. They thought it was funny, and they were special. How's their forum now?
It was great back in the RMC/Cemex days, the internet had not long even started really being popular, everyone embraced this new thing. Great times.

In reply to Post #63 Anyone know what happened to miller? Real name Clive I think. Meet up for a beer with him at sandown and he's a proper funny guy. Was a mate of daytimedave I think. Also scaley was another guy who posted a lot when I was on there. Leon was on there as RAFlee I think at the time as well. Oh and Lewis used to post a fair bit and get proper stick off of everyone as well.

In reply to Post #63 Was an epic place back in the day. My name on here is an anagram of my name on there........

In reply to Post #62 Actually I thought Paul Singlecell was the worst.

In reply to Post #54 The mods did a good job of killing that forum, especially that **** Hippy.

In reply to Post #58 Lol. I think I'd departed before that episode. I'd have loved to have been involved in that, I bet it was hilarious. Multiple forum personality disorder. Maybe it's a thing?

In reply to Post #54 that was great along with the kettle thread the spoon thread and the non telescopic baiting pole.
Danny Longcast was a legend asking how to fish in lilies and snags then starting his own tackle business before being baited and then getting the arse ache after all his lies and trying to support himself under different identities

Who remembers Dogtramp?? Did anyone find out who he actually was?

just like to echo whats already been posted, those mere and sonning threads were the best threads ive ever had the pleasure of reading on any forum.

TFI Friday, best thread ever on any forum.

It was a fecking riot on there in the early days when it was rmc. Before the dark times, before the moderators.
|

T'was a lot of good banter back in the day.....Never go on there now its been blocked by Norton as a malicious site......Shame ....

In reply to Post #50 It didn't get mentioned often did it? Lol

I've just searched for it and it seems to be dead now.....
Such a shame if it is, these old forums had such a great archive of info, northern monkies was another one all that great info just gone... :-(

In reply to Post #46 i was also on there for many years. certianly past the winter blues of an evening. super fun at times. i remember quite a few names.
Danny longcast was a classic when he arrived on the forum.
unltimately i sucumbed to the cemx sniper like so many others.
i was a youthful carpmanjay on there.
i still google some of the old threads on there and enjoy reading them. as others have stated the sonning /eye thread was amazing.

In reply to Post #45 Indeed Terry and Alan going at it about the mere was great reading ........

Used to enjoy the old cemex forum but since they got rid of the waters the forum went downhill rather rapid. Also met some good guys through the old stoney events down at Yately.
|
|
|
|
|
It used to be a good forum .... Dare i say easier to use than this one (strike me down) ... i never really understood the friction towards this forum though
|
|
|
|
|
I used this site for a number of years, however now I never use it at all. Its a great shame really as it used to be good for info on waters both in the UK and in France. I also bought my first bait boat from a seller on CEMEX, but have not used this site for about 2 possibly 3 years and rarely return to view anything now at all.

In reply to Post #40 The moderators ruined that site, a few years ago, and the users, self included, left in droves.

In reply to Post #1 Was a good laugh and also some serious heated debate....shame to see its decline

In reply to Post #38 I still wear my Bubbles hoody. In fact, I wore it on a trip out this weekend!
Also still have my Bubble Plaque hanging on downstairs toilet wall - he he he. Am very proud of that one!

In reply to Post #36 Nash throwing stick from memory ? 🤔
Yep I only look now and again , shame it's gone like that but very quiet on there now...
|
|
|

In reply to Post #35 You may well be right James
It's a real shame as I enjoyed that forum a lot and met a few decent mates through it
I have a look every now and then but it seems that it's only ever used to sell gear
|
|
|
|
In reply to Post #30 Think I sold you a few bits on there Ian lol...
|
|
|

Used to be a bit of a voyeur on the cemex forum never joined. I've never fished a old cemex water at the time and felt it was a bit to clique on there. You no the type think a lot of them held sway on what was wright and what was wrong in carp fishing they set the rules if you no what I mean. Apart from this one I think the fishing forum is dead.

In reply to Post #1 I'm still on there, clinging on to the hope it may one day revert back to how it used to be. I logged in last week for the first time in about a year. Seems to be next to no traffic any more. All went downhill once it changed to Anglers Forum imo. Then it got hacked and I couldn't be bothered with it any more.

In reply to Post #30 Yeah I remember you , funny this thread mentioned dtd as I bumped into him yesterday after not seeing him for nearly 8 years.

In reply to Post #28 When I joined this forum I did wonder if I should sign up as my alter ego fireman spam as he ultimately lead to my downfall on there. Oops.

In reply to Post #26 Crikey. That seems like a lifetime ago. Good thread though. Loads of useful info from some very knowledgable people, and a load of old sh ite input from me.

In reply to Post #11 Puts it all up on Facebook theses days. Great read..

In reply to Post #22 Now I wonder who that mod was
|
|
|
|
In reply to Post #20 Not sure what he done wrong but he's banned.
I have a friend that fell out with a mod back in 2005, he tried to come back a couple of times without success. The daft thing is that the mod who banned ended up getting banned himself.

In reply to Post #20 I still pop in every week, very little traffic these days.

In reply to Post #18 Rich is sound as a guy you could meet. 👍

In reply to Post #14 That ain't no bream was a laugh. Someone stupidly gave me moderator access to that once. God only knows why.
|
|
|

In reply to Post #15 Breamboy is Rich Crook on FB. I don't see that he fishes much anymore, probably still knows the name of every fish everywhere though
|
|
|
|
In reply to Post #15 If breamboy is who I think it is then he's on a private Facebook group.
|
|

In reply to Post #12 I much much prefer a forum format, the way Facebook works is so frustrating,

In reply to Post #3 Not sure about over policed to be honest. I think too many people post using bad language and insults then wonder why they have been banned, whereas on the wheel of joy that is facebook there is no moderation, and it is more instant.
Forums don't update or upgrade fast enough, and the format is slow compared to FB.
However, I prefer the format of forums, this and another, are my mainstays.
I wouldn't subject my children to the language used on a building site or that of a docker, so I do like the moderation of forums.
Having been guilty of it myself though, I think some moderators are too quick with the red button without good cause, and then don't or won't back down when they are advised by other mods.
I do think though that sadly forums are a lot quieter than 10 years ago. There used to be a lot of almost continuous discussions and posts from ideas surfacing.

Chris Ball had a great thread going on there.

I got banned in the end. Probably for the best.
Actually technically my main account didn't get banned, but my alter egos definitely did, and they shared the same IP address

Yes I was on it and really liked it until it started getting hacked. I would constantly get warnings about logging on. Real shame.

In reply to Post #3 Maybe forums are over policed and too PC these days so less popular
I think they need to be. I used to go on another forum, which has gone now and I can see why, 3 or 4 exchanges and it was **** this and **** that, my dads bigger than yours, ****ing Neanderthal's rarley posted anything useful either, just pointless drivel. A lot of people just want to pull everybody down to big up their own ego's. I guess that why face ache is so popular, goes hand in hand with the modern scene for me,

In reply to Post #1 They're still about and Happyhammer has posted on here, tri Friday thread I post hundreds of pictures but all went when photobucket got greedy.

In reply to Post #1 I remember being on there, used to be quite busy at times. Plus i was on the Yateley Angling forum back in the day when forums were big.
They started going quiet and shutting down when facebook started up can't remember what year that started but this forum used to be very popular in 2004 / 2005 that sort of time.
Maybe forums are over policed and too PC these days so less popular
