Recommdations required for butt grips on shrink wrap rod handle when using a pod on platforms.
Don't want the rod to be locked in and just want to make sure it doesn't slip/slide on a take and doesn't lift the whole pod up when picking up the rod.
Prefer non stainless options if possible

Whichever butt grips you get, you must alter the way you pick your rod up...
Don't pick it up or you will lift your pod up too.
Grab the rod at the reel and lift the rod tip up, this then easily rotates the rod out of the butt grip without lifting the whole set up.

Yes likewise i also prefer the esp mini's over the ones you mention, i use the esp mini in medium for my shrink wrapped rods

No need for these fancy tarty grips the esp are spot on and at a fiver each it's a no brainier

Yep - echo that about the ESP ones - I used to use them too, but being a tart switched over to Jag lockdowns, then regretted it as they didn't hold the rods as well as the ESP ones.
Although admittedly, back on the lockdowns now, but with the JAG rod-lockers, but, whilst I love the combination of JAGs lockdowns and rod lockers - especially on my rods as they're now full-cork, I notice you didn't want your rods locked so that isn't an option for you.
But I would recommend the ESP ones for abbreviated/shrink wrapped rods.

I did exactly the same had jag got rid didn't hold rods as good and so much faffing around putting different inserts in to fit rods properly and having to buy a whole pk to use one shame as I know jag are good quality

Solar P1 all day long - ignore the guff about John Roberts / ESP (I've used both) - you can adjust the P1s width to make them as tight or sloppy as you required no matter what the handle material - for duplon / cork go for the larger variants

Thanks for the suggestions.
Pretty sure I'm already using the ESP grips so will probably looking at options to anchor the pod down instead as an additional safety measure.

I have just got a set of three of the Prologic butt grips, less than a fiver and they are excellent.
The small size will fit the slimmest of 12ft rod blanks.
And I also had a look at the cygnet ones and they are a very good alternative.

ESP for me on my shrink handle rods.
ESP for me on my shrink handle rods.
Nash butt locks. I just hold the pod with one hand and lift the rod with the other. Never had a problem.
