Well I've got chest/ lung problem and I'm still under the specialist , so I'm a bit worried about it ..... if and when I do contract the virus, I could be in for a bad time if all the hype is true

Well that's me f**ked then. Ive had pneumonia twice, and the thought of going through it again scares me.

The wife has been poorly for a few days, cough and temperature, our GP phoned yesterday and due to Her symptoms , we have been told to stay at home for 14 days.
We both have underlying health conditions which class us as vulnerable.
I'm a manager for the NHS and really want to be supporting my staff by being in work.
I manage three different community teams and we are stretched but continue to provide a superb service for our patients.
I can work from home but it's not the same.
Very proud of my staff and also proud to work for the NHS.

Your wife's situation is exactly what have an issue with and testing for the virus to me she should be tested to find out if she has or has not got it. How can the government plan to deal with now or in the future if they have no clue on true numbers. The WHO have said Test , Test, Test

I can't understand why the govt isn't testing key workers.
Private tests are available for 300 quid a go, surely the NHS, Police, etc are losing much more than this having folk who don't have Covid-19 sitting at home for days 'just in case'.
It's got to be worth testing, and if clear, telling them they're free to return to work once they're feeling up to it.

I may have the wrong end of the stick but I honestly thought that testing key workers was part of the plan...?
NHS staff, emergency services; infrastructure workers. Makes sense.
Interestingly dentists have not been given advice to close even though the proximity to patients would suggest it's the best course of action...

They are going to ramp up the testing to 25,000 a day. That's a tall order but even if they only manage half of that it's a vast improvement and so I'm sure essential workers will be priority.

Was talking to a dentist last night and they're in the same boat as a lot of businesses where they haven't been instructed to close so they can't claim any insurance if they do by their own decision. She said they are lengthening appointment times so they can do a clean after each patient.

I understand that they are planning to test Key works ect but if jo public has a temp or cough with out a test then there will be no record of that being a case of covid 19 . This in turn makes the governments strategy look better then it really is. I don't see at the moment how countries like Germany France Spain have a far greater daily case rate compared to ours unless they are testing everybody that has some of the symptoms or they really do have more people going to hospital then we do at the moment.
I have yet to see one press conference that a member of the press has challenged Boris on this point.

The number of recorded cases has always been pretty meaningless, as it all depends on who gets tested and takes no account of those who have no symptoms.
It's the number of people in hospital, in intensive care, and ultimately the number of deaths that this thing will be measured by.

I wasn't going to share this but as so many people are not taking heed of advice I've had a rethink.
I don't know much detail but a young fit sport playing friend of my nephew is seriously ill in hospital with the corona virus. Also another confirmed case a mile or so away but no details yet.
It obviously can affect all, even the fit and healthy so take care, do what you can to minimise contact and take the advice on hygiene.

If a young fit healthy person is getting it it's down to virus saturation, basically inhaling / consuming a large amount of the virus through there nose / mouth which could be from prolonged exposure to someone sneezing / coughing or being in a group with similar actions........

Judging by the tube this morning where commuters were packed in carriages like sardines I guess there's going be quite a few more who will now get it.
Then again what does one expect when the government left it to people's own devices as to what is essential to travel. I'd say there are many many people who find it essential to travel to get to their work as I doubt anytime soon three course meals will be landing on their dining tables out of thin air.

Kind of irrelevant as you won't know for sure if you've had it unless you are tested, and as people who aren't seriously ill aren't getting a test then nobody can know for sure, and if they are that ill then posting on a fishing forum will be the last thing I their minds I'd guess

Don't know if corona but got aching arms, legs, shoulders, sore throat, runny nose.

Tonight's news not great a 21 year women and a 47 year old man have both died apparently no other health conditions . Seeing some of the videos of people that have it this is nothing like getting the flu, if it takes hold full on you are in for a battle.

Here in Sandbach Cheshire I don't "yet" know anyone whose got it.
Folks in general seem to be following the rules, sadly its the younger generation still ignoring the advice(altough the last 24 hours I think there visabilty has reduced)
The boy racers seem to be more active though.
I can't swim as the pool is closed so I'm having my daily exercise on foot.
I've cleaned/hoovered "her indoors " car ( how many shoes & umbrellas does she need LOL) , cleaned the shed & garage but now she wants to tidy "my shed"
While sorting the garage out she wanted to chuck out my buckets OMG my buckets ! "one can't have too many buckets."
So folks take care, keep safe, eventually this will be history .
Fingers crossed Boris & the lockdown will be effective & hopefully come Autumn we might be looking like the worst is over but not out of the woods totally.

Several months ago my brother's girlfriends brother went to a house party with his girlfriend. He's in his 20's nice lad I've met a few times. During the party a guy in his 40's, drunkenly started having a go verbally at his girlfriend. He tried to calm the situation down unsuccessfully and was viciously attacked by the guy and savagely beaten within an inch of his life by a weapon. Amongst the multiple injuries were very serious skull fractures and later on confirmed brain damage. He's been mostly in a coma these past few months, with sporadic signs of recovery. The alleged attacker has been on remand. This last 2 weeks he's been moved to 2 different hospital's as COVID-19 has appeared on the wards. Yesterday they moved him to the second and placed a DNR on him.
Now if this poor lads fight has run it's course, God rest him.
But I really hope that COVID-19 is nowhere near this animal's defence lawyers notes.
None of his family is allowed in to see him because of this lockdown. The thought that I could get a phone call that someone I care about has been hospitalized with this virus or any other life threatening condition really worries me. The thought that they could be dying and I'm not allowed to see them and they're alone apart from clinicians makes me question if I could abide by the rules if this happened. Hopefully it won't.
Many ways this dirty b*****d virus affects lives without contracting it.

Here in Cheshire , I know personally 2 people who have Covid-19.
I'm keeping a real low profile, no plans to shop for couple of weeks.
Other than my exercise (walking 2 mile round trip) I'm staying in.
