Hi , anyone used Danny Hollands Butterball rig? Basically its a length of flouro with a very short braid hair and a couple of inches of braid tied to the flouro then onto the swivel which ensures the rig lays flat upon landing on the lake bed , basically a sort of reverse combi, the short hair creates an aggresive angle at the hook end, looks quite an effective rig , its on you tube btw

Never tried it.
Useful over soft silt if you want to fish a stiff rig\lead clip I guess.
Tangle issues on the cast?
I wouldn't bother with the soft hair, personally.

Reverse combi rig then.. butterbean rig?.. is that something to do with the bait he's using or something??

Nope, it's literally a couple of inches of soft braid to fluoro to hook, finished with a braided hair. Personally, I'd just use a helicopter system if I wanted to make sure the hook link laid flat.

Not sure why someone felt the need to put their name to a rig and then give the rig a name too. A mono / fluoro rig with a supple last inch is nothing new is it.

Whilst I am being pedant tw@t, I wonder how often these rigs DO actually lay flat. I love the idea, but the waters I fish there is either weed or leaf/twigs on the bottom. The likelihood of the mono/stiff section laying flat against the bottom is very slim.
It more likely to be flat after the roach etc have played basketball with the hookbait and wiggled it around

I'd be interested in seeing underwater footage of rigs CAST into position on something other than cleanish gravel although I think it might give me nightmares as I'd bet the rig doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in diagrams / sales patter
