When on a park lake or canal it can be awkward getting the rods set up.
Of course you can use a pod but space is often limited with passing walkers and dogs, and often its a short sesh so the less stuff to carry and mess with is a bonus.
A couple of mates place their rod butts on a bucket, so they only have to secure a single stick for the front buzz bar. They just fish with their drags less tight so the rods don't fly in, but its a big compromise.
I have come up with a way to fix the rear goal post buzz bar to the bucket that makes it secure for normal drag setting.
A tight bungy around the bucket and the sticks are tight to the bucket.
A couple of dayglo stickers each side makes the bucket much more visible for passing bikes, scooters and idiots.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Good idea, but the bucket needs to be heavy. However you do need to carry a spare bucket. To get to your bait/ groundbait.

the bucket is quite heavy.
I take out what I need before positioning the rods.
I found a big plastic container to carry my pellet bag mix so its easy to lift out, and I have a couple of plastic bags with bigger pellet of I want to catty them out.

and the lake was starting to freeze over so I packed up about 11.30 last night.

You could carry two buckets the same ,one fitting them inside the other,then fill both buckets with water ,which is heavy ...ie ....same as yr photo but back n front buzzer bars on bungied buckets...
Pack up ,tip heavy water back into the lake ...nb heavy water ,not the nuke stuff ,riiiight..

Beats having to use one of them god awfull rod pods.. 
Years ago I fished a lake, the "Management" thought it was a good idea to make some of the pegs out of concrete and about 3" of soil on top, no way could you get sticks in apart from at the front where the soil was deep as they could not wheelbarrow to the front of the swim.
The only way to support the rods was on a bucket, initially I just rested the butts on the bucket but I eventually drilled a hole in the bucket lid to take the screw thread of a buzz bar and then using two big washers, one either side of the lid on the thread, I just tightened it down with a 3/8" nut, that way, I could use the buzz bar without using sticks. And for added weight, I just filled it with pondwater.
