Today I was going to buy Korda digital scales, but the owner of the shop said he didn't have anything left and he had issues with delivery as he thinks Korda is working out some issues with the scales. Of the 4 he sold recently, he had 2 come back with issues.
Therefor I was looking at the Fox digital scales, but I read a lot of people having to remove the batteries after a session because otherwise the scale drains the batteries. This sounds like a PITA, so I wanted to know if this is still an issue with the current generation Fox digital scales?

I've had my Fox scales for a couple of years (think its 3 actually) and had to change the batteries once in that time so not an issue I've experienced. Battery life has been good and in general I have no complaints at all

Wychwood T-Bar is very good, have been using the same battery for 4 years and still not replaced, also have an expensive Reuben heaton scale but I barely use it because the Wychwood T-Bar is just as accurate.

I had the original Fox digital scales with the fold out handles and they were the ones with the battery drain problems and yes they were a PITA.
The newer ones are great and the batteries last for 12 months plus, you won't go wrong with a set.

Why not get the Reuben Heaton 7000 scales without the Korda logo ? You get RH service and sales back up then if anything does go wrong. Had mine 3+ years with no issues at all.

Because these are 30-40 euro more expensive than the Korda ones and essentially the same as the Korda ones. So my reasoning is that if the Korda ones go wrong, the RH ones go wrong too. Plus the RH ones are so in short supply here now.

Fair enough. Korda and RH are roughly equal price over here in 60kg/120lb.

I've got the fox not had any issues with the batteries, I leave them in, been in for over a year

I'm sticking with mechanical scales.

I've always had RH dial and there is one good differnece between RH and any other make, but is it a consideration given your in the Netherlands is another matter.
RH will service their scales and are very reasonable. With mine they replaced the dial and hook and serviced the internals for the standard cost of a service, just over £20 at the time.
I'm not sure if Fox or Korda will do that.
I've bought a set of the RH 9000 digital to run alongside my dial scales. On reading up on them when someone had a faulty one out of warranty they replaced it anyway with new.

In all seriousness I did buy a £3.99 set of luggage scales which look just like the Berkley Pocket scales, and guess what, quite accurate. Do I think digi fishing scales are worth it given the cost of the internals and the accuracy of luggage scales...no. Do I see any reason to have either the Digi RH or dial over the cheap luggage...err...no. But I'm old and stuck in my ways...just buying digital felt dirty

Last session I had accident which ruined them. A big gust of wind blew the tripod over in exactly the right direction for the scales to land in the cradle which had water in it. They lay in the water for 20 minutes probably.
Scales were knackered, took them home. Unscrewed them, tried to dry them out, put them in rice but still were knackered.
Need some more scales myself now but not sure if I'm going to get some more digital ones at the moment

My original Fox digis (with the fold out handles) are still going strong after decades of use! Sporadically sense check them for accuracy against other scales and they're still consistent.
Only issue is no on/off switch so reversing the battery is only a mild pain that you get used to; that and them bottoming out at 66lb which in the UK is not really an issue for most!
