Is there any alternatives to the Korda Helisafe. Not used them myself but what I see they seem to drop the lead too easily.
I am fishing a weedy lake where if I hook a fish I would like to drop the lead to help land it but not every time I get some weed on the retrieve or when a fish doesn't get snagged.
Im currently using the thinking tackle c clips but find them a pain to use when trying to cover the clip with the sleeve.
Just wondering if there is anything else out there to drop leads on heli systems ?

The original heli safes came with one spring that IMHO dropped the lead too easily and I was in the same situation as you.
On the last few purchases I've made they now come with two springs and the red one is much harder to compress ~ I have used this last few weeks on a lake full of weed and only dropped the lead when connected to a fish.

I prefer the Heli-Safe myself, although I agree they can drop the lead a bit too easy. Also, I got a grain or two of sand into one of mine and then it didn't function :(

Just tie on the lead with 6lb esque line on a ring. Use a silicone sleeve to tidy it but it will break under pressure. Use less or higher line depends on casting distance.

Helisafes with the red spring are much better. Still drop leads if you hit a big bank of weed though on the retrieve.
Rotten bottom with 6-7lb line should be fine and very cheap alternative.
I really rate the C-clips.

Agree with Swifty
Use the Helisafe and change the spring to the red one
It takes a lot more pressure to release the lead - try it yourself

You'll find your current helisafe set up will work perfectly with the red springs. Unfortunately, buying a new set of helisafe's is the only way you're going to get hold of those springs!
Be aware they need to be fairly new stock. The older ones don't come with red springs, just the crappy silver ones.

Another shout for the c-clips, ive used in past and they were pretty reliable.
Also bought the 6lb one and trimmed the corners is i wanted to increase the chances of losing the lead
