Has anyone needed to extend the front legs of a chair beyond what they do as standard ... I need to add another 4inches or so if possible ... any ideas?

It can be done depending on what you've got. The legs and frames tend to be regularly available box or tube section and the feet a push in insert, sometimes with a screw to hold.
The father in law had a tube section chair with spring a loaded lever tab which engaged into slots on the leg tube. He bought a longer tube, used a angle grinder to put slots/indents in it and just swapped the feet over.

Just measure the diameter of the existing legs on your chair, go on Ebay and look up Aluminium tubing, its only cheap, and buy a length of the same diameter, cut to size and then fit some mudfeet, which may be the hard part to source. There is a website that specializes in spare parts for chairs and beds etc but I cannot remember what it is.

But just having a look on Ebay, Rubber walking stick ferrules etc would fit, and if the bank was soft ground, just put a bit of plywood etc underneath to spread the load.

I did a chair and also a bedchair a few years ago in this fashion. The only stumbling block might be if you have a fancy chair where the legs have groves and slot in etc.

You could try pedestals which are adjustable

M-range are the cheapest and will be more than enough for a bed chair.

H-Range have a slightly larger “range” of sizes, if you want 4inches extra you could choose from the following

M3 or H3 75mm -115mm ( 3” to 4.5”)
M3E or H3E 90mm to 140mm ( just under 4” to just under 6”)
M4 to H4 110mm to 185mm ( just over 4” to just over 7”)

The H-Range pedestal can withstand a max 18kN loading ( which is nearly 2 tonne)

Or a mixture of the above.

Bought a couple of "4" deep holes" off eBay to put the back legs into!!!!

Hi, i just bought some Sky Hooks & hooked whichever legs onto them

You can buy most types of aluminium tubing, round or square.
Then adapt to fit in chair, mudfeet etc.
Not many tools required, drill, maybe pop Riveter etc.
