Any recommendations for a 0.40mm diameter mainline, preferably fluorocarbon but also decent low stretch monos . . .needed for a specific water / rules etc
I'm a big fan of brown 20lb Korda Touchdown. Comes in at .43. Very strong (as expected at that diameter) but behaves well, casts pretty well and sinks nicely.

HydroTuff in 20 lb. Sinks well and even casts ok for snag line. Not pre-stretched but it feels like it is. Very responsive. Really does everything.

Not sure about Korda lines in general - how well does it sink compared to fluro / can you fish it slack without fiddling around for hours etc?

Not fluoro but folks seem to highly rate Technium, low stretch.

I use ogx in .40 for a very weedy lake in france, its a co polymer and i've no complaints with it at all.

It's obviously not as heavy as a pure fluoro but it sinks well for a mono. It's a thick, heavy line and stays down. This is the only Korda mono I've used so can't comment on how good the others are.
The thickest fluoro I've used as a main line is 0.37 X-Line. I can't think of a 0.40 on a larger spool than 100m.

Tiger line in 20lb is 0.37 if i recall mate, should be more than capable - just give it a good stretch every time

Agree with the comment about Thinking Anglers OGX, would also recommend Korda Longchuck. Happily use both on my set ups

I use GT80+ 0.40 in clear, owner also checks with vernier. Really good line, give it a wipe now and again as it comes in.

I've used Touchdown in 15 and 20lb. They definitely don't cast well which might not be your priority seeing that you are considering using Flouro.
Otherwise good dependable line. Fairly low stretch and sinks well. The 15 is stated at 0.40 and The Tackle Box agree.
It seems very heavily dyed which would explain it's poor casting properties.

Cheers - I've gone for 15lb Touchdown as I won't be casting most of the time anyway and prefer low stretch . . .Discovered Synchro XT Loaded is also 0.40 in 18lb but I've used this in a lower bs in the past (when they'd ran out of standard XT) and its truly horrible stuff . . .

Another one for GT80+. I use the dark green. Very supple and smooth, casts very well, sinks lovely, and very strong. Why this line doesn't get more plugs is beyond me. I've used it since it came out and will continue to do so, I have the utmost confidence in it.
