I've just picked up a Dean Macey 2.75TC to use as a floater rod. Does anyone know who's blanks they were built on? I know they came under the Nash label, but the blank looks very much like a ground Ballista. Without comparing them side by side it feels very similar too.

I don't know, who or what is he? I know Fatima Whitbread was a javelin thrower.
I don't buy rods for the name on the butt. In fact I bought it in preference to a 2lb 9oz TC rod with a name some describe as the messiah on the butt. It felt more suited to my needs.

Had a set of Dean macey12ft 1.5lb rods, twin tip, wish I never sold them, best perching rods ever. Marketed by Nash

I know Nash sold a range of gear with his name on it. This rod has got a Nash butt cap.
I was just interested in the source of the blanks. I suspect it's probably far eastern, but does look and feel similar to my Harrisons.

I suppose the question to be asked is how many Ballista owners have queried if their Ballista's are the same as Dean Macy rods?

Many years ago, I went to the "Go Fishing" show at the Birmingham Arena and on the Nash stand, if I recall, there was a brand new range of rods from float fishing to Carp fishing, I think there was 22 rods in the range.

I wanted a good tench, barbel float rod and really fancied the Nash Power float rod.

But, I dilly dallied about it and when I finally bought one a few years later, most of the rods in the range had been rebranded "Dean Mackey" which I was not happy with and scratched the name off.

The rod itself though is brilliant, wish I had two but not a clue whose blank it is. I have to presume though it must have been who made the Nash Carp rod blanks in them days which would have included the "Hooligan" and "Viper" I think which was replaced by the 'Pursuit".
