I currently have a 10ft setup using Okuma Inc 6000 reels, but at least one of the three has the dreaded anti reverse fault. So time for a change. I've read a lot of posts on here about the current Shimano and Daiwa offerings not being as good as their old reels, so that left me thinking of good quality alternatives.
Any ideas anyone? Budget up to about £120 a reel. The only manufacturer I can think of is Penn, but I'm not sure about their reel sizing. And I don't think there are any stockists close by to have a look at them.

Penn rival longcast 6000 are mini big pit size nice reels for the money they do them in all black , black with gold bits on the spool and back with blue bits on the spool

Thanks Chris, they were the ones I'd noticed on the Penn website but as I said, not sure about the sizes.

A mate has these and they seem very good reels and take a lot of abuse from him.

He has the 3500 in link but also uses bigger ones conger fishing, not sure what size but they are not huge as he uses 100 lb braid on them.

Yes I did have the black penn rival for a few months found them great in the time I had them the drag on them is a quick drag . I only sold as I decided to cut down some of the gear I had

Ive got Shimano 5500 XTBs, Okuma INC 6000 and Fox FX9s in Mini pit style reels .. XTBs are my least favourite by a distance for me .... And the FX9s edge it over the Okuma's. The only downside if the FX9,s is the 83cm retrieval against circa 100cm of the others ... But is a small downside.

I was tempted by the Rival 6000 but I went to see them in a local shop & didn't like the tapered spool they have. They also don't hold a great deal of line.
I ended up with the Wychwood Extricator 5000 from Future Fishing which seem decent but time will tell.

Not bothered how much line the Penn's hold as they'll only be used for smaller venues. I didn't realise they had a tapered spool though, all of the photos on-line seem to be of the larger 7000 and these appear to have a non tapered spool.
I've found somewhere reasonably close to me that has the black ones in stock, might pop up and have a look at them.
