Just wondered if anyone could tell me where (roughly) these sit in terms of size. I've got some gold emblems and some ss2600's. Would they sit roughly in the middle of these or be similar to the emblems. Many thanks

The gold emblems and these have basically exactly the same capacity.
These are the official specs from Daiwa:
Gold Emblem loads 300m of 0.35mm line.
Tournaments load 330m of 14lb line.

While it's not very helpful of Daiwa to not be using consistent measurement types, 14lb line is typically between 0.33 and 0.38mm, so there you go - they're essentially the same.

Sorrt to hijack the thread, but what is the deal with reel sizes?
The 5000t is the same physical size as an Ss3000 and the SS35. But the 6000t is a totally different reel. Sorry to sound thick, but what does the number actually relate to?

Tourney 5000T is about the same size as a Gold Emblem S5000T body wise - smaller than a 6000T and Basias with a 45mm spool but bigger than a Whisker 25QD (mini big bit) . . .I'd class Tourneys as Medium Big Pits (if such a category exists) and are a good balance for a 12' rod

I'm basically looking for the perfect reel to balance my 10fters. The ss2600's are nearly perfect but could be a bit bigger imo and the emblems are too big. Does anything (not wildly expensive) sit nicely in the middle?

I assume its very personal and what you're used too. I felt my ss2600s were small on my 9fts, and 5000ts felt perfect.

I've got a pair on my 9ft rods and love them but they don't balance the 10fters. I do love how much easier they are to transport than bigger reels though as I generally fish short day sessions and carry my gear. It does make a difference. I fancy some tournaments on the 10's but I might just be trying to find a reason to buy more gear. Gotta be wary of that.

Whisker 25 qd's would be perfect on the 10 footers. Slightly smaller than my old 5000t's and the 5500 ci4's but bigger than a 2600.

I had the 5000 emblems on my soft 10ft rods and they were perfect. I have now changed the rods for some soft 12fters.
Although the emblems are the same size as the tournies they much lighter because of the plastic spool.
Daiwa emblem s 5000t is 565g unloaded, 614g loaded with mono.
I'm surprised to see the tournie 5000 is 575g unloaded.
The emblem has a better retrieve ratio and less coffee grinding.

As a Daiwa fanboy I've got SS2600s on my 10' rods and they balance fine but I'm only fishing for high doubles / the odd 20 and at shortish range so am not too bothered about casting and cranking power. I do use an Emblem BR25A on my 10' SPM and this reel could easily be used as a 'step up' on the main rods (albeit I don't like baitrunners for normal fishing rods)
Going to upgrade my 10' set up shortly (to fish on my main syndy water) and the only reel in my sights is the Whisker 25QD . . .
However if this is out of budget would consider other 25mm spool reels eg aforementioned Emblem BR25A or if no baitrunner consider an Emcast 25A (much cheaper but similar spec)
