Still using the original Daiwa spod reel which probably could do with replacing after being abused for many years. Anything new better like Daiwa super spod reel or similar or just replace with a new of what I already have ?

I switched from the emblem spod to the crosscast spod and have no regrets so far, had it a few years now and still going strong.

The new emblem 35 spod is really nice. You could get them for £70 at ad not long ago but think they sold out straight away. They still have the original emblem for £89 at the min though.

Does anybody know the difference between the Daiwa 18 Emblem Spod 35 SCW and the Daiwa 20 Crosscast 45 SCW QD Spod reels?
Looking online see the crosscast is about 30g lighter but otherwise they look the same, take the same amount of line etc.
Looking at a new spod reel for my 10 footer spod i just ordered. Is one of the above smaller than the other?

Not used it yet but it feels pretty solid. The 45mm spool, SCW and quick drag were the features I wanted..

I'm still using the Shimano spod reel,(xtd) it's starting to get a bit cranky now, any up to date suggestions for a new one, or just get the same one again..it's been good, but there might be better out there ..any ideas?
Ps..what is the difference xtd and xte ?

I think Penn do one, and they have an excellent reputation for reliable, bulletproof reels.

Buy an og Emblem X/Z5000A (blue & chrome) . . .its the reel the Daiwa Spod is based on, but just better made

I have a couple of Shimano spot reels and I like them, have an Ultegra and an Aerlex, the Ultegra is better but the Aerlex has lasted well and more than up to the task. If I was buying now I would probably get the Penn as seen it for c.£60 on TfT and as I have a set of Affinity reels I do not doubt it is a great reel and for that price point I doubt you can get anything else near as good
