Just watched a recent Carl Smith video on YouTube. When in it he experiences a fish hooked on both his Rods...

This is something I've never ever experienced let alone heard of.. Anyone on here ever heard or experienced this?

I used fish a lake were this happened quiet often. It was a well stocked runs water with fish up to 18lbs and you could easily catch over 50 fish in 24 hours as well as lose a lot.

It was common to see both rods rip off at same time as if it was synchronised, it was then a case of hit one, rod down hit the other and play one, net it, play the other and net it with your spare net. But, it was a very open water with no snags etc so no real need to worry about getting snagged up by the other fish and they would stop running and probably just sulk on bottom trying to shed the hook.

But, it was a water I only fished 3 x 24 hour sessions and had 160+ fish as it is not my type of fishing.

But, over the years on my usual a few fish a year venues, I have had a fish take on one of my other rods whilst playing one a few times.

Do you mean that 1 fish was hooked twice? If so, I've never heard of that happening either. If it's a case of a take on multiple rods at the same time, then yes happened quite a few times and pleased to say got a good percentage of both fish being landed

Yes, I had this actually happen to me and my friend when we were both around 12 years old and fishing in a lake for carp (both with one rod) with bread and sweetcorn. You can imagine the look on our faces when we saw that the carp (approx. 3 kg) had taken both our hookbaits .

Only once, but not quite at the same level (if not higher). When I was a teen I got a cut off from a notorious spot in a council estate where there was a 2ft high pile of bricks under the water. Re-cast, and within the hour I re-hooked the Tench I had previously lost.

One in a million chance.

Carl in his Vid landed a fish with both his baited Rods hooks in the one fishes mouth.. Two hooks in the one mouth basically

Not two takes at the same time. Even I have had one of those..

Never heard of one myself. Those hookbaits must have been close together, wonder if the fish has some sort of nerve damage so didn't feel it...or maybe it's just wellard

Never had it coarse fishing but sea fishing from a boat had a thornie that had both mine and my mates baits both fairly hooked in it its mouth and also saw a smoothy hooked in the mouth by 2 different anglers

He was fishing a small river. Not two baits on spot commercial type water fishing.

Can't get me head round the fact the fish picked up his hookbait, hooked itself. And the next thing on its mind was feeding again. The River was small. But that fish must of travelled a good few feet to feed again while hooked...

Very different but I have an antique stuffed pike that was caught from the Dorset Stour. Two brothers were fishing together and the pike picked up both their baits. Both played the fish until it shed one set of hooks.

Years ago happened to me and a mate.

We were fishing a really big water (very big indeed, I must say an inland sea) and after dinner we were watching the dark expanse of water in front of us chatting about when I had a steady take, grab the rod and go out in the boat toward the fish. When I was not far away from the bank I heard one of the alarm of my mate screaming. We had only one boat and he played his carp from the bank. At one point when the fish was due to be netted on the surface and after a few attempt to get closer to the carp I realize that there were something that pull it far from me and it could be only the line of my mate, so I told him to loose the drag and I netted the carp.
The carp got both the hook in to bottom lip.
We got to the conclusion that the carp during the fight swam under the other line and hooked it, and during the fight slipped down to the mouth and get hooked in it.
We thought that was almost impossible that a hooked carp during the first run could've thought to eat another bait, but who knows?
